Tinted taillights - yes, another thread..sorry.

Hey everyone,

I ended up doing this on the weekend as a project to see how it looks. I know there has been a lot of people doing this, but I thought I try it out. Had to take off my entire bumper and used the transparent window tint spray from Testors. I'm thinking it's probably a little too dark, but I'm going to wait until it gets dark to see how bright it is. Good? Bad? Too dark? Thanks!

Kinda has that Pontiac "blacked-out taillights" look to it.

Did you try it with just the reverse light tinted first? I think that'd look a little better. But good effort nontheless.

have any of you ever tried using window tint, instead of the spray...kinda think that would be easier to change if you decide it's too dark or too light...just an idea, I've never actually done it myself

Here's a thread about it. IMO, it's a very nice, subtle mod to cover up that ugly pinkish color on the lights. I did mine after the DIY by autophiles, but I removed it just last week. The tint bubbled up and started to peel.

Here's mine right after I finished it.

i was brainstorming that idea about the different ways to tint the tail lights. That one of them. Also thought of tinting the area that run across pink/red and covering the pink cross to the end that connect to the trunk.

Yours bubbled up? Mine has stayed just fine.. and I did it way before you did. Wierd. I wonder if it was the difference in the tint or something? Who knows. I am looking into the vinyl option.. for the future.. We'll see if I can come up with anything.

It could be the brand of tint film that we used. It bubbled up on the part of the light that curves. I knew that'd be the toughest part to keep the film adhered to. That red vinyl that Mqike did looked real good. I'll keep that in mind next time I get bored.
