FINALLY!!-Got my *SILVER* Carbon Fiber Hood!!

Well guys thought I might let you know that I got the hood I have been waiting for. I am so happy with it and fitment is great!! It is definetly way better than having a black one on a silver car. Black carbon fiber is so played out. The hood weighs probably about 50 lbs. less than stock which I like so I can go faster!! I will post some pics asap prolly tommorow so don't worry!!

Please excuse the wax and a little bit of dust on the close up shot of the weave! My car will almost be finished !!! YEAHHHH!!

-Drew

50 lbs less than the stock hood? hmm.. how much does stock hood weight then?

cos i thought the stock hood weighed in at 60 lbs.
which would make this hood weigh in at 10 lbs.

I thought the stock hood was really light....10 lbs for a CF hood??? DAM!

Would a silver CF hood look good on a black car?

Were you able to keep your hydraulic hood openers? I was told that you couldn't do that if you got a CF hood....

Just to let ya know buddy!!! It is real 100% Carbon fiber. Nobody wants the black plaid as you call it look!! The carbon fiber is made from the lightest strands of CF. Not that hard to do. Carbon Kevlar is a lot thicker and the weave is way different. You should know that!

-Drew

I was able to keep the stock hood shocks. They actually put threaded retainers in the hood. Price wasn't too bad!!

It's not silver colored carbon fiber, it's carbon fiber strands mixed with strands of aluminum and woven into a cloth...

And drew.. hehehe carbon fiber is not strands from cf.. it's like saying "The carbon fiber is made from the lightest strands of carbon fiber". Actually i think you know what your saying, but for those who don't. Carbon fiber has a graphite name and it's made into a thread or tow. This thread is on a spindle usually and are shipped or made house by a machine that turns the thread and weaves it into a cloth. That's how you get carbon fiber cloth and they come in various thickness and weave design based on application.

There are colored carbon fbier which is basically dyed kevlar 49 (kevlar is a trademark name from Dupont, kevlar 29 is that bulletproof kevlar in bulletproof vest) and the dyed kevlar is woven together with carbon fiber tow to create a hyrbid cloth of carbon/kevlar cloth.

Best Regards,
Larry
