Carbon Fiber Hood Help

Can anyone tell me the latest on where the best place to buy an Accord 2dr 04 Carbon fiber hood from in the Northern California / San Jose area, is there a local pickup shop by any chance? If not what is the best price (including shipping) for a VIS invader hood or any other hood that you are happy with (ebay seems like the best price but I read bad reviews on quality and shipping), also let me know of the ones I should stay away from...

Thanks for any help you can give...

Thanks for the info, by the way, when you wash your car does the water flow into the Invader's heat extractor opening on the hood and get the engine bay dirty?

imho, the invader-style looks a bit tacky, no offense intended. i prefer the oem style, and that way u dont have to worry about junk getting in your bay! ;D

Yea, I'd also be interested in knowing what people's experiences are with the Invader style hood and water entry into the engine compartment. Does anybody do anything different because of the hood vent? Does anybody try to temporarily block the opening while they're washing their car?

I got mine form JTR Sport (iirc) in Cali, and their ebay name is Carbon_Innovation. Hood arrived when they said it would and came in unscathed. Hood was a great price, but there was the usual healthy shipping charge. Still, all in all, got it about $90 cheaper than any other place I felt comfortable getting it from. Some other places may have been a little cheaper, but I didn't like them for one reason or another. This place has a bricks&mortar shop, and their feedback was real good..... only a couple of negatives, and one of those was concerning the fit-up of an entire body kit. I didn't figure to have any fitment problems with just a ViS hood.

Just ordered an OEM style VIS hood from ANDY'S...there good people. I got a great deal, better then ebay even. Kyle took my order, he knows cars, he actually has a Drift race car and Drifts on Thursday nights at Altamont....I didn't even know about this, Altamont has some new owners and they are really trying hard to promote racing and drifting, I'll have to check it out soon.

Hi duRritztiNy,

The price depends on shipping distance so it may be different for you, if your interested in a hood (or any other part for that matter) call Kyle at Ext.107, (800) 419-1152 and talk to him direct. He will give you a good deal.

I was looking at a bunch of returned CF hoods at my local speed shop (some VIS) and noticed the vents were closed shut with a cover - I guess if you want it open you have to take off the cover or just cut holes where you want...?

Antman321,

Thanks for the heads-up. I put $200 down on the hood and I'm told I'll get my hood delivered approx. 7/28/07.

Apparently ANDY's has grown from a $100k business to a 2 million in a couple of years so they must be going thru the typical growing pains that business's have from rapid growth - not enough managers to oversee the transactions, software can't handle volume, etc. Kyle also mentioned they just got in a new software program to handle the volume.

I have been treated very professionally up to this point and am happy with their service so far. I will keep everyone posted on how my transaction goes.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a store in the Maryland area where I can get a 7th generation carbon fiber hood for a sedan 4-door? I was looking into eBay, but don't want to pay the ridiculous shipping charges. If there are no shops in the area, then I will have to go through eBay.

Also, what are the purpose of the hood pins? I know they're probably so that your hood doesn't fly up get ripped off the hood springs, but where would they attach to?

What are the purpose of hood pins for a carbon fiber hood? My wife is letting me buy something for my car, and I might go with a carbon fiber hood for my carbon graphite 2004 EX V6 Accord.

Look at the price as a whole, shipping isnt that bad compared to the jacked up retail price in a shop. Find any given shop and compare the 2 total prices. Just make sure you get it insured if you go ebay.
