Tail Light and Trunk Trim

Not sure how well this is going to go over but...I like it!

Got all these chromed-steel pieces off EBay. Wasn't too sure about the light trim but it's growing on me. The main thing I like about them is that they cover up the crappy sealant that's visible on the edges of those after market lights. Always bugged the hell out of me and now their totally hidden. The Trunk Trim is nice too and kind of brings the rest together.

I did have to something a little funky to make this all work. Can you spot what I had to do?

the painted tails look good. i guess they trims were made for the asian accords because they have shorter tails for a longer license plate area i think

You are right Joedanger11!

Yeah those were meant for the Asian Accord but didn't figure that out till I got em. Turned out ok. Pics actually don't do it justice. The painted part looks like part of the trunk/license surround. The trim trim fits great but it's tight where the lights over lap. It has a small lip on the underside so it's best to remove the lights, install the trim, then refit the lights. It's snug but not too snug. The spoiler can probably be purchase anywhere that carries Honda OEM stuff. OEM Hybrid spoiler (pre 06)

i love the trunk trim, but the tail light chrome has got to go. it doesn't match up very well with graphite pearl.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback! Good bad or indifferent. I've decide I really like the look. It's much more subtle then I thought and it has grown on me. I look at the pics I posted and think they look funky. Damnable cheap digital. Gotta get a new camera!

Besides, there's no chrome on the "S", no chrome on the Rubicon...

Gotta have somthin to put chrome on!

Maybe I should buy a used Solara!

i will say that the chrome trim could only be pulled off with the aftermarket lights you have....it would look funny on OEM tails

Good thing I didn’t make this a poll!!!

James, I have to say you’re a good sport & a pretty decent “baby sitter” too. After I made my last post I thought it might have been too personal. I intended it to just “poke fun” and I’m glad/hope that’s how it was received.

Anyway, I thought I might share with you all my thought process. I really wanted the Hybrid first and foremost. The two cosmetics issues I had though were with the taillights and front-end look. Hate might be too strong a word but given the fast changing and ever improving looks of taillights I thought the Accord was way behind. I agree that the trim I have added would look horrible on the OEM lights. To date the lights I have are IMHO the best after market option I’ve found. I am still looking for better though. With the LED retro and the trim I’m pretty happy with them but who knows, I may find something I like better tomorrow. You won’t be seeing the OEM back on though, at least not until sell/trade-in day. Believe me you guys/gals are far more forgiving then other sites I post on! Both my Jeep forums and S2KI have members that are most intolerant of unorthodox modifications.

I’m not about conforming. Rather I like to explore the untried. No one ever accused me of having good taste, but I have had a few compliments on being bold and gutsy in my expending the mod envelope. I have started a few new trends even:

An off topic “short” story…

4-5 years ago I spent a lot of time on “F150online.com.” I had a 1999 LD F250 that I had supercharged, lifted and modded the crap out of. Reference picture:F250 Truck In my day I was one of the first if not the first to supercharge one of these. As a result I had a fair amount of respect and few gave me negative feed back for anything. Until….

Everybody was doing billet aluminum grills. So did I. Again I decided to do something a little different to set myself apart from all the others. I ordered a grill trim piece from Ford off an Escort. It was an oval Ford emblem with “wings” coming out of it. I stuck it right in the middle of my new billet grill. Well, the $hit hit the fan! No one liked it in the least. I literally started getting “hate” PMs. It was bizarre! Funny thing was all my friends, members of local truck groups and even people I met on the “street” who saw it in person, loved it. Anyway, after a couple of years and having done everything I wanted to the truck and more I slowly stopped going to that forum. Got tired about defending my grill and actually got bored with the whole site. About a year before I sold my truck to get the Hybrid, I went back to my old hangout site and what did I find? Not only were there about a dozen members with my grill design but three of them were some of the biggest haters I had dealt with. One guy was even one of the members who PM’d me with insults. I made one last post with a simple “smiley” and haven’t been back since.

Sorry for the long post! Hope some of you enjoyed the story though…

Cheers.
