VAFC 2/Boomslang harness

Here's a little rundown before my Q's(and YES I have searched).
I've had a VAFC 2 for a while and took it to get "professionally" installed at a tuner shop a few years ago. After slaughtering my wires, sending my car into safe mode a million times, and having to buy a new computer I decided F this and didn't want to bother with it. Now that I've done some research on the Boomslang harness, I've ordered one and just have a few Q's.

1. Is it really that easy to install. After all the headache of last time I want to get it right.

2. Is it safe to make minor adjustments on my own while I hunt down a trustworthy tuner shop? By minor I mean adjust the VTEC engagement a few hundred RPMS and minor A/F ratio adjustments.

3. I have fully built heads and have been scared to throw them on because last time I did, I kept blowing valves(although I have a strong feeling it had to do with faulty maintenance). Would a tuned VAFC remedy this problem assuming the heads are properly done?

Mods: AEM V2 intake
P+P intake plenum, intake manifolds(or runners, whatever they're called!), and exhaust headers
J-pipe back exhaust with 3rd cat removed(soon to have a nice new j-pipe too)

I also have fully built heads I'm debating on putting on. They were built to withstand 10,000 RPM's and 20psi, but since I don't have the money for FI anytime soon I don't know if its worth my time.

I've been debating that too, depends on the offer. They were made with iridium plated valves, titanium valve retainers, 85 psi springs, custom made high profile cams, and everything ported and polished

I don't mean to be an ahole, but i'm going to call BS on the heads, just because you don't know what a PNP harness is,
and you don't know how a VAFC works, and you don't know how to wire that up. I'm also calling BS on this "10,000 RPM's and 20psi" Seriously though, if you have those heads i'll pay good money for them right now.

i didnt build the heads, I had them sent to KMS racing. I understand the B.S. call, I've read a lot on this forum and seen plenty of it myself. Honestly, I just don't know anything about wiring, although I do know what PnP is. But trust me, if you saw what that last tuner "professional" did to my wiring harness and computer, you would understand why I had a little doubt in it really working so easily. Also, I do know how the VAFC works, I'm just not a tuner and don't want to play around with it too much and blow my engine up....especially considering I just bought a new one.

Last time I had my heads done it was just a P+P with the high profile cams... my WHP was 237. However, I had no tuning and the heads were not fully built like this time. As far as headers, mine were just sent to a machinist and in essence bored out a little. This was a good 2 years ago or so but trust me, the sound difference is completely noticable. I was at an accord meet in the bay area and everyone kept asking what i did to my engine. As for power, you do sacrifice some low end but the mid and high is balls out!

my new heads came to about 2g's. Last time I did my heads I had my heads, intake mani, intake headers, and exhaust headers w/ cats sent to an accord engine "specialist" in the bay area. They bored everything out and did a P+P which included shaving down the valve guides, made and installed high profile cams, and then sent it all back. That was about $1500. I specifically asked the guy(who just happened to be the owner) if I would need reenforced valve retainers or anything and he told me no. A month later I blew a valve, the culprit? Broken retainer. So I had that whole bank redone and a month later blew one on the other side. So I said F it and had both of them pulled off and sent to this new place and redone. While they were off I was deployed and a certain shop decided to leave my car outside with nothing covering my engine. I have a carbon fiber hood with vents and rain destroyed the inside of the engine unless i want to bore it out and blah, blah. So, $3400 later I have a 27,000 mile motor installed with my exhaust headers and intake mani and here I am. About 7 gs into a motor and I'm not even boosted!!!

just for the record, the place that did the work the first time failed to tell me that they had never done that stuff to the J30a2. So they basically used me as a guinea pig

the plug and play harness from boomslang plugs and plays, it's a no brainer and anyone can install it. If you had a nintendo, you can install a pnp. I'm interested in those heads if you're willing to sell. Pics would be nice too.

thanks
Kiet

It seems like great work, but only by looks, since i haven't installed them yet. They are a renowned company, but their main focus is racing teams and sand rail motors. They took over 4 1/2 months to send my heads back!! Luckily i was deployed and didn't need the car. As long as the time they took on my heads was a fluke, I would say they are the real deal.

I also have a PnP vafcII harness that I'll probably sell. You only need to fix one wire that popped off when Honda removed it, or I can even do it.

If someone is interested, PM me (and for the VAFCII as I'm going to sell it).

not the new ones from KMS, I had to buy a new motor and pay for the install and it would have been close to another G to have them swap the heads too. And, since I just got out of the military I'm not exactly loaded with cash. I talked to Paul and he said its pretty cut and dry swapping the heads as long as you have all the parts handy so I might install them myself shortly.
