Dual exhaust.......again

I know this has been beaten to death and a straight yes or no would be fine. Someone with a strong knowledge of exhausts only, please. Would it be worth my while to go to a "true" dual exhaust set up if i already have a custom exhaust? would there be any performance benefits? If not, would the sound be any better, obviously still dependent on the mufflers?

No performance benefits but you may hear a slight difference in sound.

How do you propose routing a true dual exhaust?

You may lose a little low end power and gain a little top end power. It's very dependant on the size of the piping and the routing and the mufflers/cats/j-pipe configuation, so there's really no yes or no answer.

you might benefit out of it more if your planning to go with the forced induction route for your vehicle, other than that I dont think you'll notice enough gains if your staying n/a with your vehicle.

theres been a few that have had success with a true dual setup. the place that made my custom jpipe awhile back, is the one that did sicksixspeeds setup. i still have the pics,

heres the custom jpipe they made for me,

and this was the true dual setup they made for drews car (sicksixspeed)

he had the fastest 7th gen back in the day and was the first to hit 240whp, when intake and exhaust were the only things available for our cars. he did have a vafc that was tuned too.

OOo I remember sicksixspeed's true duals when he first got it. His setup is super sick (no pun intended ) Your probably better off getting richie's custom j-pipe with an exhaust unless you live near drew's shop. But i'm not sure how much performance difference there is between a rich's custom j-pipe with exhaust and a true duals setup.

-JoE

P.S. if you go true duals, you will get mad props though!

no that thing was awesome, but had a nasty rasp to it. =/ i would have kept it, but i was going to have him do a true dual, which eventually fell through

im really hoping to do one of pauls awesome engine setups and im just trying to figure out everything ahead of time. if i go balls out and go for the 4 liter i might really consider a true dual setup. hell, even at 3.7 i could see it being worth it

its been aloong time since i heard his car, but from what i remember loud loud

heres a clip of when i had just that jpipe installed. it totally transformed the way my car sounded. remember, thats just piping from the cats to my comptech catback w/premuffler. imagine how loud it would be if i went dual all the way back

it looks like he has an H-pipe exhaust? not true dual downpipes

arent there different kinds of duals? the J, the H, the X? etc

Huh? Any true dual exhaust involves two things: an engine with two cylinder banks and an exhaust running from each bank to the rear of the car without connecting to each other. The standard accord doesn't have a dual exhaust because it connects at the downpipe and splits back off after the resonator.

Hes mistakening the crossovers...h-pipes...x-pipes to be a type of exhaust. Thats just a component of a true dual exhaust.
