Flowmaster question

LOL, i realize that hardly anyone throws these on their accord, but was wondering if anyone can tell me what product # i would use for a 40 series Flowmaster. i have an '04 v6 sedan. here's the site: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/40_delta.html or would the standard be better than the delta series: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/40_orig.html

there are no products on the site specifically for the 7th gen, but i know at least one V6P board member, wei.yuan23cindy, has it on their '06 v6 sedan. i found a clip of theirs on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-2KtltwQ3s

of course, her sound clip sounds different than flowmaster's. and i know it would be odd for our cars to have a muscle car sound, but wei.yuan23cindy's sounds deep and throaty which is what i'm lookin' for.

any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!

Thanks bro! looks and sounds hot! i'm a newb with this stuff and debating whether to do this or not. are you satisfied with the performance and is it loud inside the cabin...wondering if it will drown out the stereo.

is this the one you got: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...oducts_id=3289

not this one, right? http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...oducts_id=3288

do you just have mufflers, or did you do a custom y-pipe, 2.25" piping etc.?

i know you're in a different state, but how much was it for your install? just want to get an idea. Thanks again!

It doesn't drown out the stereo, but you definitely know that you don't have your stock mufflers on anymore

I have Richie's J-Pipe, Resonated test pipe, and 2.5" tubing, no resonator or premuffler, and then the flows. For a throw off, I put some Magnaflow tips on because I love how those look. I got the model 3289 40 series. I have had Flowmasters on everything I own so I definitely love the sounds and performance I get from them. You'll be happy!

I paid $350 for the two mufflers, tubing, mandrel bends, and installation. I installed all Richie's stuff myself so that cut some of the cost down. Hope that helps!

I don't know, it was all included in the price the shop quoted me. $75 bucks or so is about right nowadays. Jeg's and Summit usually have the cheaper prices, but they're are all hovering around $75....

many thanks for all the replies (and the help from otsb and wei) if i go to a shop and say i want the 40 series flowmasters, 2.5" piping from the test pipe back, and the pre-muffler removed am i going to get good results with this setup? i'm on a budget and can't afford to get richie's j-pipe and test pipe too should i go to a body shop for the bumper cutouts to be removed, or would a good muffler shop be able to do it? i have an '04 so the tailpipes have no tips and angle downward below the bumper...in a way, i like it because it looks stealthy

I would just keep it the way you like it. The muffler shop I'm sure can do anything you ask (anything, yes anything). If you like the stealthy look, then keep it. You can always get some high heat paint and paint the mufflers black to keep them stock looking.

ya the muffler shop can do the bumper cut outs. i actually did paint the muffler black to have the stock look. but if u remove the pre-muffler it will sound more louder. i actually did removed the pre-muffler and it got too loud that i got pulled over. thats y i put back the pre-muffler but it still sounded good

interesting you mentioned that because i was thinking the same thing with the paint...the car overall is clean (kinda sleeper style), but there are a few little rust spots on the mufflers. i do have the v2 so i get a "growl" when i need one. i've been debating between upgrading the exhaust OR adding an ipod adapter plus powered sub (infinity basslink). unfortunately, can't do both at the moment

Actually got to hear the girls sedan at Mike Mufflers in El Monte (we use the same exhaust shop) in person when she showed up and left, it does sound very nice actually probably would be my other choice becides HKS draggers. I think I took a video of her leaving not sure how much of her exhaust I caught but we'll see when I find it.

Found one of her clips online, this is a good one because her car is getting tuned so the car is under load

Go for the delta mufflers, heck look up the Super 40/44 series while your at it, supposedly even better. Only thing I dont like about these is that they rust, its all regular ol steel, so keep that in mind.

sounds freaking awesome! I was looking at putting together a system at a local shop here with 3 inch no pre-muffler and the flows straight through.

Has anyone ever used the single chamber muffler? Like the outlaw series of the 10 series delta force?

I think that Magnaflow looks sweet! Can't go wrong with the 16-gauge stainless...

RIGHT? The first car I ever worked on was my Dad's '69 Camaro SS 400 small block with single chamber pipes.... woke the neighbors down the street up on Saturday mornings when we went to the track. I just wondered what it would sound like on a JDM V6 I'm afraid to much like a weed eater!
