removing premuffler and putting straight pipe

what do you guys think of this mod on the 7th ged av6.

i know there is a thread for the 8th gens, but they have .5 liter larger displacement so its a lil dif.

has anyone removed their premuffler on their 7th gen? did you get a cel? did you notice any performance gains?

if someone can just answer my quiestion.

Overview:
Will removing the pre-muffler and putting a straightpipe in its place cause a Check Engine Light,

Will it give my car a few ponies(1-3 lol) or will it actually make my car lose power?

THANKS!!!

I removed my premuffler and resonator and didnt get any CEL. It just makes your car louder but not annoying. You wont feel any extra hp but alot of members removed their resonator and install a magnaflow resonator.

1. Nope, no CEL

2. It will give you a couple more ponies, but its not going to be a drastic change

plus by removing the resonator and pre-muffler you lighten you car up by a few pounds... those suckers are heavy... which will gain you .001% more MPG.... lol

Yeah it's not much louder and the power is minimal. I say do it anyways. Doesn't hurt to add 1 or 2 hp and lighten up the car.

^^ I deleted the mid muffler along with removing the driver side muffler. I also have RV6 Jpipe/test pipe and Fujita CAI. I posted a sound clip in the exhaust section. Honestly..in person it has that "G35/350Z" burble/garble/whatever you wanna call it. Does it sound like a G35? No, and it never will. But it has a slight resemblance in the tone.

I still haven't gotten around to removing my premuffler because of getting pulled over and having to get a lawyer and what not. Escort radar detector FTL. i talked to the muffler shop who was going to do it for me, he told me that i will barly notice a difference in sound and that im better off putting a cone filter in the stock airbox. any opinions on this?

can you notice the resonator a lot through all rpms?

Interesting..I have CAI/J-Pipe/Test pipe/Borla and if I could compare my sound to any other car out there, it would be my buddies E36 M3 with a Borla exhaust. His tone is deeper, but mine sounds more like his. The G35/350Z exhaust note is unique, i don't think my car sounds remotely like it, but that's also due to the fact that we (you and I) have different exhaust setups. Just my .02
