question for 6 speeders

hey do any of you notice a "dead" spot in 2nd gear or 3rd around 3k-3500? its almost like it hesitates for a second then goes hard... was curious if any of you experienced that... i thought maybe something was wrong with an injector.. i run at least 93 in the car... thanks

I notice a dead spot in any rpm under 3500rpms to be honest with you. Typical torqueless Honda's..what can ya do? Get a j-pipe and it'll be a lot better

I should preface that - 1st gear doesn't have a dead spot with my set up.

On mine it happens more in 4-5 gears. It's just a quick hesitation due to a torque less car , oh and dbw doesn't help either lol

It's probably the intake manifold switching over. I believe it's switching right around there based on dyno blips you can see. That means you're maxing out the low RPM profile and right at the bottom of the high RPM profile for the IM in that are and that you shouldn't be expecting top notch throttle response in this range.

The dynos Ive seen show like peaks of 10whp or so but the nice part is you get power throughout the rpm range so its not like it only helps up top or in the low rpms.

To me the jpipe was the best mod dollar for dollar. Gives you low-to-mid range power that is badly needed. And as someone already said, peak gains of 10whp, but more importantly power across the entire rpm range.

But I would research which one to get. I got Richie's first batch and I'm hearing people saying XL8's and ATLP's is better designed and thus gives better power gains. So research before you buy one.

I've never noticed a flat spot. I just notice the switch over at 4k RPM.

Sit in 2nd gear at around 2k rpms and punch it. I notice a "dead spot" or lag when I punch it at that rpms until about 3k rpms. I have I/E/Jpipe/TestPipe...maybe the pulley eliminates that dead spot..I dunno. Edit - you don't have a pulley, mabye it's your custom exhaust.

BTW, they are refunding me fully for the shift knob. Bummer that it didn't work out but at least they'll give me the money back. I thought they'd try to pull the "improper install" thing on me.

Actually I do have the UR underdrive pulley now, but even before that I've never noticed a flat spot. Hmm... weird.

Yeah, got your PM about the knob, glad they're giving you your money back.
