K&N Intake Installed

Just installed this on saturday.

I'd take a shot with it on the car but my camera ate its batteries and passed out cold.

The annoying part was the removal of the lower stock resonator which I eventually just snapped it into two pieces since it wasn't coming apart like the instructions said it would. It was riveted together with metal couplers. There was also one hidden bolt I had to remove a foglight to get a wrench in which turned out to just be a socket and my fingers since I couldn't fit my hand in there completely holding a wrench.

Definitely balanced the cars breathing massively with my Magnaflow exhaust. The slight whistling sound from the intake every so often was startling at first, but now I kinda like it. Very nice driving to work this past morning.

What's not pictured is the filter stocking that came with it.

nice!

On a side note, I've read that k&n filters aren't up to par w/ what they say? I could be incorrect, but just seeing what ppl have to say.

Personally I think the majority of the filter debate is a lot of hype but I feel you're right about the oiled filters. They really don't do as good a job on particulates as the dry ones but we are talking microns here. I don't single out K&N though as being worse than other oiled filters, it will do the job. Eventually I'll replace it with a dry filter since I'm never going to buy a recharge kit and oil a filter hells no.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have the problem your having. There are no whistling sounds at idle or light acceleration. I can only here a short whistle under moderate to hard throttle but that is normal for intakes like this pulling in from behind the bumper. The throttle sounds down right mean when I get on it.

The Acura owners are complaining of the same "whistle" sound.

Every single intake has a whistling sound. V2 owners have talked about it, I have a V1 and have it...never heard anyone say it sounded horrible though so maybe something's wrong? I dunno, mine is barely audible under half throttle at low rpms.

I dunno, check all clamps/hoses and make sure they're on tight. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. It is such a slight whistling sound that I can only honestly hear it with my window down and radio off. What you're hearing, something seems different. Notice anything wrong with performance, i.e., sluggish acceleration or anything?

Hey aznboi128

A clear sign you have a leak is if you take the intake off the car look at the clamps/pipe/hoses for dirt build up. Then you'll know for sure.

id have to agree with mbr311 that maybe something is leaking. If you hear it whistling at idle and you hear it get louder when you accelerate usually means the air is escaping through a hole or crack. just my 2 cents

I think the hiss u are hearing is just the air flowing in to the intake. My fujita intake hisses really loud from a cold start but after 30sec it gone.

becareful lurkers might see it, find out where you live, and take that car of yours.

Anyways, I have heard Injen was decent on the gains. good throttle response. So how is your MPG since you installed it? i remembered i probaly got 18 or lower from gunning it so damn much to hear the noise. LOL

My mpg's went down substantially after I got my exhaust because I would get up on it so more frequently over the first week or two just to hear the sound

Mine makes a noise when I turn the car off, but I usually have the radio on too loud...I'll check on my way home, but I actually know what you are talking about.
