removing the resonator on aftermarket muffler

first off, i already removed my premuffler, and put an aftermarket muffler on my car. combined with the aemv2 my car sounds decently loud. Removing the premuffler made it a good amount louder. But now im curious about making it even louder. I noticed that the resonator is a lot bigger than the pre muffler, so i imagine that it would make the car a lot louder by removing it. As i was doing some research, people are saying that removing both the premuffler and the resonator will make the car sound like ****, but i believe it may sound like **** on stock muffler. Since i got aftermarket muffler, how do u guys think it'l sound with no res or premuffler on aftermarket muffler? it would almost be like a straight pipe since im running single exhaust lol. What you guys think about this lil expiriment?

I will be getting a new full exhaust in 2-3 months so i figured id just mess around with the exhaust. Any opinions

Well I got the Borla system and I removed both the resonator and pre-muffler and I love the sound. Not really loud at all compared to the rest of the crap on the roads, but its no where near as quiet as it was. Just get a straight pipe bent to replace the resonator, and then replace it. If you don't like the sound, put the resonator back on. Shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks to make a pipe for it...

Well, I have the full borla catback, but when I replaced the resonator and pre-muffler, I could have just gotten two borla mufflers and called it a day... basically the same thing.

I think you're right, it will be loud lol...as far as how it sounds I haven't really heard a ricey exhaust sound on the J30A4/5. I dunno if its because of the V6 and not hearing the typical bumblebee/fart-can noise associated with the 4 bangers (or maybe I haven't listened to enough clips)...anyway, if you're replacing it in a few months, I say go for it. If you don't like it, doesn't matter. If you do, maybe you can save some money and not get a new exhaust. Or at least provide sounds clips so WE know how it sounds

lol i will do it then. the pre muffler is small as hell, i looked today and the resonator is huge, its like the size of the muffler, so it should be loud as hell

My old webspace got taken down so my sound clips are off the web... I still have them on my computer, though. Anyone know of where you can host sound clips? Just sound... no video.

a large resonator will make it quieter just to let you know... and i would say go straight pipes if you want it loud or if you want i have a muffler that will be really loud but growl like nobodies business! its made by a local shop called pats mufflers they are easily the best in the metro area for Minnesota at least...

this is with mufflers i cannot find it without at the moment

^^Yeah I'm pretty sure the OP was saying that since the resonator is so large, removing it should be pretty loud.

I will post a vid, and im running single exhaust so it should be extra loud. hopefully it wont be raspy

Also when u downshift and ur slowing down, u hear it pop a little, not backfire exactly, but just a lil popping. It sounds mean as hell. i will be getting a video asap and u guys can tell me what u think.
