resonator

Hey everyone,, I have a 2004 Honda Accord EX V6 with the 3.0 Liter SOHC VTEC. I am thinking about taking out my resonator will that do anything to the engine or make a different sound.. or even better air flow? And what would be the steps in taking out the resonator.

First off, welcome to the forum. One thing everyone hates is people who dont search, so please do. There is a lot of info about removing resonators, whether you are referring to the exhaust or stock intake resonator, just look it up. But to give you a quick answer, yes. Removing either or both the intake and/or exhaust will change the sound and volume of the car, intake not as much as exhaust though.

Well I was thinking about only removing my intake resonator. What are the steps in taking it out? Do I have to remove the front bumper?

You do not have to take off the bumper for the removal of the stock intake resonator. You do however need to take out the battery and take the rivets off the fender liner on the driverside to expose the access area. When you're in, there are two bolts connecting the "SIR" to the mounting bracket. The front upper bolt is a pain. Honestly, if you get around 10HP with an aftermarket intake, you'd probably get 7HP with this. So you could look at it this way your paying $300 for 3HP when buying an intake. Put a drop in K&N filter and you're good to go.
