K24A4 --> J30A4 can it be done?

I currently have a 04 accord with a K24a4 motor and i ****ed it up pretty bad with my turbo setup. I was wondering is it possible to swap it to a J30A4 motor? What parts would it needed? has anyone ever done this?

I dont know exactly what parts you would need but I 100% know its possible. A little over half of the engine bay setup is the same for the 2.4 and the 3.0 so it is possible.

Wouldn't that be waay too much work? I know the front suspension is different for I4 and V6, might be like that in 7th gen too..

Just buy another k24.... Its 700 shipped for a motor with 40k on it. Or better then get a k24a2 *tsx motor* and hondata the car.

What exactly happen?

in order for you to swap to a v6 you will need new harness, new front springs, new axle, and radiator, new tranney, and it goes on.

i agree, with the amount of work and costs, you are better off replacing your motor with another k24 and selling the car to get a v6 instead. I definitely wouldn't spend that much time and money just to go to a stock v6 motor.

I agree the tsx motor sounds like an excellent option.

Since V6 isn't that practical and if you really want power, do a K20/K24 Frankenstein build.

TSX if you just want to do bolt on but I suggest a k20/k24 frank since your going to have to pay for hondata kpro and a tune either way might as well get something better. Get a k24a4 long block replace the piston with 2009 tsx piston since they are 11:1 compression ratio. Get a tsx head or rsx-s head and get the cam gears to do 50* vtc and only use about 40-45* this will help with cam advancement and retardment. Then you will need an rsx-s oil pump, vtec silonoid, crv timing chain, and a lot of other little stuff. Anyways if a cop pulls you over he can't tell if it a frank swap and want not. If your car a i4 and then becomes a v6 its obvious.

waste of money, you can yield much more power at a cheaper price with a K-series than trying to upgrade to a V6

daily driven k24a4 turbo with stock internals on a civic.

So I am sure if you do a frank swap that should be no problem

it is.. but very expensive, i say u stick 2 the k24, bcuz its wayy more moddable than a j30, and once ur done, it can put out wayy more than a j30
du ur research on aftermarket parts, skunk2 has some parts just for the k-series engine

I could easily show you if you show me the money. I have built plenty of K-series that are street driven daily and reliable making over 220 whp n/a. i'll put one together for you. I'll get your K-series to make 260-300 N/A and street driven reliable if you want. A Stock K-series out of an RSX can see 220 whp easily with a tune, and minor bolt ons.

Let's add up motor mounts, ecm, transmission, harness and other miscellaneous parts not to mention install. The K Series is a much better option with a ton of aftermarket support unlike the J-Series.

So all it's going to take is a engine to swap a v6 into a 4 cylinder shell? THink about it for a second. If you're going to question my knowledge at least pull out a book, or rack a 4 cyl 7th gen accord and than rack yours. Than make a list of every single dam thing you think you'll need to complete the swap. Than take that list go out there and get a price quote for all the parts. Than come to me and i'll give you a price quote which will beat the quote you got however it will still cost more than doing a K-series to K-series swap.

Trust me. There is more to it than just the engine. Alot more to it.

Also 220whp for a 400-450 lb motor versus a much lighter K-series (lighter than even a B-series).. Power to weight.. Think about it.

540 WHP daily driven. I've taken a few rides in this car and it scares me.

Think white and get serious. K to J is not a practical swap. I would just sell my car and get an Accord with a J30 if I wanted a V6.
