Big Mouth for the 7th Gen

Well, as you guys know I have been building larger displacement ported out engines for our cars which have been providing nice numbers all the way up to 5500 RPM and then would just level out. With all the porting and displacement increases and cams the engines just don't seem to be able to get enough air to continue making power above 5500RPM bue to the restrictions at the throttle body, well I think I found a solution for people staying NA. How about a 80MM throttle body, yes that should flow enough, but one problem the damn DBW system, well I got a solution for that too.

This is going on WorldOn1Finger's J33 soon so we should have some new data soon to see what gains it makes, but butt dyno even on the stock J30A4 in my car says something is there. Alot of boring was done to the intake to open it up to 80MM as well and had to add (weld) to the neck in a couple spots where the metal was paper thin or even cut completely thru. Now that it has been tested and the cable conversion system is working properly and the ECU is happy with it I need to finish port matching the throttle body and send it off to Brett.

Next for this will be a upgrade for the 6th gen AV6/2nd gen CL-TL.

Largest bore before this was 67mm bore out of the stock TB. As far as CFM, I need to get a air flow meter, anyone got an extra $1K laying around, LOL.

Even with the newer intake it still did not address the throttle body which is no bigger than what we currently have with stock.

Is that just a universal throttle body you used? And i was just wondering how you went about eliminating the TPS sensor to go to DBC. Just some resistors or is there more to it?

The stock TB is driving the cable, so both are in sync and the TPS in the stock TB is still providing good feedback to the ECU. And the TB itself is for a LS

You can only bore a stock TB so far, in our case the stock TB maxes out at only 67mm, thats only 2mm larger than stock.

Not a whole lot on a stock engine, now one that has been ported and tl-s camed, I can't see why it would not help.

Maxbore is actually 150 for our thorttle boddies. Once you contact the guy he will tell you its 150 just to bore out the throttle body. It would go from 65-67mm thats it.

Yes, but there are different challenges, like the kneck to the intake is much smaller diameter and will need to be welded up to increase the diameter before boring and the IAC and TPS need to be delt with, I have Ideas, but have not actually built one yet.

Unfortunatly there are too many eyes that come thru the forms to give up all the details, but the stock TB can be ut back to stock with no issues.....
