5500k fuel/cut......no check engine light???

hey guys, i talked with NA-AV6 about this and need to know what the hell is going on....

turboed 6spd 3.0L...went to tune with an FIC on a dyno at about 2-3 psi(crap kit and probably boost leak)..anyways the car gets "done"....hard to start....have to hold key and giving throttle does not help. Then while driving it hestitates and stumbles at certain RPMs. And then...no matter what the boost if any...it hits a cut off at 5500.

I scanned it for codes and only a EGR code which isnt the cause in my eyes, and no check engine light? Yet i heard its running in limp mode?

I just need a clue what to look for, i am curious to think if the MAP sensor is bad? it was showing 3psi just on idle which i know was wrong....

thanks for any info.

First things first, unplug any electronic devices that you have installed for engine management and plug it back to stock form.

Fire it up. It should fire up and idle just fine. If not than you have just eliminated the aftermarket engine management as the culprit.

Also how can you not have a CEL and say there is an EGR code? If there is a EGR code your CEL will be on.

I had the same problem in my boosted J30. At 5500 it hit fuel cut, the car shut off and had to stop to start it. This only happened when I boosted more than 9 psi. I'm pretty sure it's crappy FIC intallation, or maxed out fuel rails, or both. The plugs were fine. I'm planning to start fresh next summer and re-do the entire wiring. Hopefully you will sort this out soon.

thanks guys for all the quick answers, i am just up to my eyes trying to diagnose my own car, and i am a mechanic full time and didnt want to go into this blind.

I checked oil. thats fine..

i will unplug FIC and see if she idles fine.

The egr code i think was a history code...not a current code.

alright,

its NOT the FIC..
its NOT the MAP sensor(since i disconnected piping and sensor at one point)

HOWEVER,

I realized he has a "jet" performance ECU and he had it only done a few months ago....and i am pretty sure that its a scam for the most part because of how complicated the ECU is, and thinking they f-d up the rev limiter...

any other opinions? i am still scratching my head on this

Sounds like the ECU has been screwed with and is screwing up the data, time for a new/used ECU.
