Question Performance Issue with Aftermarket Parts...

hi there... I just want to know if theres really a gain on installing a CAI... I always knew it is, but now I just installed 2 things on my Accord making it slower...

1. AEM V2 Cold Air Intake
2. King Motorsports Ported & Polished IM & Lower Runners

After that, my car is a turtle when hitting the gas from 0 kmph... Cars that I smoked when I was stocker now they f*cked me by far

Why is this happening?? Is there any ohter thing I have to install in order to make those 2 things work together?

Please, I'll appreciate some help here... =(

P.S. Both parts are used... the AEM dryflow filter looks a little darker than it should (I tryed to clean it, but it still looks dark).. is this really a problem??

Performance modding has to be done wholistically, just because you did the intake and runners, did you also do the heads? Use a more aggresive cam like 07 TL-S?

What Paul is saying is that your runners aren't matched with your heads/cams. The intake alone on my accord (and others, as most of us can attest) netted a pretty noticeable gain.

just when i installed them... the car runed great!

Couple of days later... started to slow...

What would I need to kick my Auto Tranny's ass from zero kmph?

When it reaches the 4,000 RPM it pulls very hard... but just before those RPMs its way slower than stock... =S

pbook4g5... which cam/heads should I use to raise my accord's performance?

Ported and polished heads with TL-S cams are always good... Paul (NVA-AV6) will build you a set.

I'll let Paul quote you on price, but there is now way that they would know you had headwork done at the dealer unless they compared the parts inside side by side.

I think I was looking at just over $1200 with my set... but I had them shaved too to raise the compression. It may have been more, but I had so much other random little things done I don't know what was what.

He does good work though!

P&P heads with 07 TL-S cams and shaved for 11:1 compression is $850 + Shipping and return of your old heads.

I'm sorry I know I've asked before but I forget - with I/E/jpipe/testpipe and your work, do you need a tune? Obviously a tune will maximize everything you've done, but do you NEED one? I think I've talked to you about this before, no one around here is trustworthy enough IMO to tune the J30. We just don't have any good import shops. I think if I brought in an AEM FIC they'd be like

I will be in your area this weekend. Is it possible to hook-up for a brief moment to see your ride?

I am really interested to see the gains with your $1200 investment.

^ Do they have any J-Sieries experience??? 4cyl builders and tuners are a dime a dozen, J V6 guys are hard to find, I have been looking and talking to several "top" tuners of 4 cyl that fail with the Js.....

Exactly. There's a shop in Columbus called SlowMotion Motorsports, and they do some REALLY GREAT work with the Honda 4 cylinders, but I talked to their lead tuner, and he has no clue about the J's.... mostly because there are no viable/direct tuning methods for them.

i just called them. he said hes worked on cl's with rl pistons and he said as long as your not doing a stand alone system, he can do it. afc neo, he said isn't a problem. he sounded pretty knowledgeable about the j series engines aswell.

Neo, LOL, go ask WordOn1Finger what he thinks of the Neo.....

The Neo is a signal modifier, not a tuning solution.....
