Anybody do a 7th gen 5AT to 6MT swap?

I would like to know what parts I would need to get to swap out my 5AT to make it 6MT... all the little nitty gritty stuff...

And approx. how much would it cost?

Anybody here ever done the swap?

dr.x, NVA AV6 and nicepeta are the only known 7th gens to swap out AT for MT. i suggest you trade your car in for a 6spd.

The work, the money, the time, and the problems will be what hurts. It's honestly not worth it, unless you really love your car and just want to keep it and can't let go, etc. Trading it in for a 6-speed will be cheaper, and you'll run into less problems.

Did you search? in the past two weeks there have been three threads (including this one) about this EXACT same question.

You might as well trade in your car for a 6 speed. It would be easier and cheaper that actually having all this work done. But if you are going to do it there is a thread called "parts list" halfway down the page with a list of what you need.

hey don't forget me i went from AT to LSD TL 6-speed baby!!!!!!!!! and love it. but yeah sensible thing is to trade car in for a 6-speed unless u want the better handling lsd 6-speed which is an option if you do a swap, or trade for a 6-speed and pay 1500-2000 to install just the lsd diff.

^^hey but it shaves like .2-.3 seconds off ur 1/4 mile time. i got to find the thread, but anyway this guy had a 6-speed 7th gen av6 and ran a 14.0 1/4 mile then when he got lsd installed he was running 13.7 constantly. plus if u have an automatic or manual av6 and really want lsd it is actually cheaper to do the swap than trade+later installing lsd, or just paying for 1.5-2k for a new diff+ install when u can find used tl trannies from 1k to 2k.

auto to 6spd conversion is much simpler for a 4 cyl neel. not only are the transmissions cheaper, but their alot more plentiful and so are the parts you need to make it happen. plus, you have the option of choosing a 5spd or 6spd

v6 MT parts are scarce, hence the higher price.

What he said. I broght this onto paul, i have a I4 and he hasn't once told me to trade my car in, not one time. Something around the 8k range for everything core engine, bolt ons, labor high end stuff ect. It's really not that bad. If you want a six speed and are enthused by doing the work from scratch its well worth it.

^^ exactly if there is a will there is a way, as long as it makes u happy. cmriv be careful for 6-speed trannys that have a shot 3rd gear. when i got my tl 6-speed i had to replace the 3 & 4th gear set cause it grinded that bad and it have 60,000 miles on it.

I'm pretty sure they did make a V6 MT Sedan for a couple years -- can't remember, '06 - '07 maybe.

Even still, they're rare.
