Question Custom Camshafts

So im a noob to the 7th gen j30, I was looking for some cams found none. I read that tl-s cams are popular. so what im looking for is if a custom grind on on a j30 is worth the money and if anyone has done such a thing. Need the input befor i blow the money

What I understand is the tl-s cams have a higher lobe and duration profile comapared to the j30a4. I would take that into consideration.

The small gains you'd see over the TL-S (at stock 3.0L displacement) would probably not warrant the huge outlay of cash for a one-off set of cams. At least IMHO.

If you were doing a 'balls to the wall' 3.6 build, perhaps. On that front, LT is going for 750hp+ and still using the TL-S cams. Granted he's not NA, but that they will support that level of power is promising.

With the renewed interest in the J-series platform with all the swaps, I am hoping we'll see more aftermarket support... but who knows.

I am talking to Blue Print racing about the market viability to produce J series parts, although it has made getting trannys and other parts harder the civic and teg J swaps will help with market demand and influence.

IMO there is a limit on how aggressive a cam can be for the j30 engine becuz of the cylinder head design. the cams are slid into the head and the cam journals are casted into the head as opposed to bolted on like the honda four cylinders....so this means if a cam is made too aggressive you will be unable to slide it in through the journals and it will not fit in the head!
