PC Delete success!

My friend Sam (Stilloco) and I put in my PreCats today! All in all the install took about 4 hours. Sam did more like 75% of it haha but I helped and learned from it.

The Deletes are much larger than the factory opening. Wayy more air with the deletes.

It sounds great below 3K rpm then gets raspy after that. I have the OBX Catback and RV6 Jpipe to go along with it. It's a lot louder and..you guessed it, raspier too. I was hoping it wouldn't be raspy, but I also have the test pipe in so I was expecting it. I may put my stock 3rd cat back to see if that helps.

In terms of power, I felt the difference from the 1st time I stepped on the gas. It really pulls in the upper rpm's. 1st gear is a joke, even from a 'street start' (5mph roll). Once VTEC hits (no ricer) it really has more grunt. 2nd gear pulls really strong, almost like it wants to go past the redline. 3rd gear on the highway really pulls now. Without them I thought it pulled good, now it's just awesome. There is a small whistling noise kind of like the intake except a little more aggressive sounding when you give it moderate throttle. Otherwise, WOT has a nice tone to it in the car. I can't really describe how it sounds, but it sounds good!

I'm definitely happy with them! Oh, they smell..but who cares?

I'll get a vid up soon!

Congrats Sonnnick, a mod I would love to do but am scared to touch with a ten foot pole for various reasons. Glad you like it and glad it gave you some umph. We need as much power as we can especially if you're trying to keep up with your buddies RSX-S and his modding

PS - time to update your sig

The V2s, sorry. The flanges were misaligned so they were replaced, but it works fine right now.

By 1st gear being a joke I mean it seems to go thru 1st almost too quickly. From a 20mph roll, it just shoots to redline. I punched it from 45 before and was very surprised on how fast I had to shift to 3rd, hence hitting the rev limiter. Definitely a big gain from these to compliment my Jpipe/Exhaust. The car always pulled, especially with my mods, but the PC deletes really topped it off and added that extra bit up top.

Honestly, I don't feel that I lost anything on the low end. I could be just flappin gums, but from what I've felt so far, from a 5mph roll it pulls hard all the way from the bottom. Even 2nd gear @20mph seems to pull like it did before. I'll have to see as I drive it more. I will get pics/vids up soon. Sorry for the delay!

After 3K rpm it's raspy though. On the rev, up around 4-5k it's VERY raspy. Not so excited about it but it should get better once I put the stock 3rd cat in (if I can find it). My friend drove it so I could hear it, and under 3K it sounds really, really good, and then after the rasp starts. I haven't heard WOT from outside, but from inside it sounds great!

nice man! PCD's are the best bang for the buck for sure.

you will definetely need to put your stock 3rd cat back in to get the smell down and help with the raspyness. i know exactly the sound your talking about. it gives a ring-a-ding-ding sound 3-5k rpm, then dissapears after vtec. you might need to look inta a 14 resonator too.

With my borla exhaust I am running a high flow 3rd cat and these deletes and not that raspy at all. So my recommendation would be try your putting your 3rd cat on and see how it goes and look into a high flow 3rd cat.

Lol jp. I was just so excited to finally do it I put everything else behind me haha.

I shoulda been in the 13s awhile ago lol I just slacked.

Sean, I definitely agree with this being the best BFB (bang for buck) mod I have done. And yes, that %[email protected]#% sound!!! I can deal for now with the extra power though, but probably not much longer.

i think anyone who has the PCDs can vouch for the bump in power it gives, including myself. every gear pulls alot smoother and quicker while also adding an awesome sound to the exhaust. the only bit of rasp i have is betwewen 2.5k-3k RPM, other than that i can deal with the smells..oh and i am also running a test pipe, so im surprised with how little rasp i get.

Doesn't matter what exhaust you have. Once you delete ALL cats you WILL have rasp. I had slight rasp with stock exhaust and precat deletes!!

So many mods, so little money to do them. I complain about the lack of aftermarket support we get but there are still some major things I need to do (pre-cats, pulley, cams, tune).

No, not at all. You may give up a few hp, but I really don't think its *that* much power...

And I personally wouldn't risk it in CA...
I don't know all the rules but I thought it was bad news being caught tampering with the emissions stuff. I know the blower may not be CARB approved, but somehow I thought they made a distinction with tampering?

It's a good difference in power for sure. 2nd gear is VIOLENT now, 3rd pulls a good bit harder as does 4th. My friend with a modded TL 6 speed and a modded Altima 6 speed did runs before/after the TL did the PC's. The results were the TL losing by about 1 car before them, and after, beating the Altima by almost 2 cars...1 mod making a difference of 2-3 cars? I'm in.

$999 was a placeholder, he probably just forgot to update the site.
