Smile Installed V3 PCD's

Yep, started at 2:30pm and finished at 11:15... I had one hell of a time with those things... I don't even know why it took so long because I a very proficient mechanic. But geeze the stockers did not want to come out at all.

Anyways, I guess I should rate them after a 15 minute drive.
I'm a little let down at the moment. I know the computer needs to adjust everything but it definitely lost a chunk of low end torque and gained some hp up top. I will update again after a few days. Whenever I get my p&p runners and intake manifold, I'm sure I will gain power back plus some.

The overall exhaust sound with a stage one exhaust mod sounds really deep with a good tone.

Oh, but the metallic buzzing is horrible. Im going to attribute that to a bad exhaust mount for the most part. A new one and TLS trans mount will be here the 21st so hopefully it will quiet down some. Just apart of modding I guess.

Thanks Rich for making awesome products for our cars!!! The fitment was great!

Congrats on the install. Don't worry, the computer will come around. Yeah, that install was a [email protected]%, especially the rear PCD. I've gotten used to the buzzing at this point. It's only a short RPM range that it occurs. Have fun with them!

The V3 PCDs use 2.25" piping sames as the v3 jpipe.

The low end is increased with PCDs its just not apparent since the top end gains are much more dramatic.

12-15WHP on a manual and 10-12 on a auto. You will need to add a extra resonator to keep the rasp down. The high flow precats are also a option.

The high flow cats would gain ~2-3 hp less. You can see how restrictive the stock precats are compared to my castings used on the PCDs and HFPCs.

They both do well, I've seen 3" exhaust with some pretty impressive numbers. You have 2 precats and one 3rd cat.

I forgot to update the thread! The low end definitely came back and the top end is really nice. I can say I'm pretty satisfied.

It took a good week for the computer to adjust.

As soon as I get more money, im going to try and fix the buzzing somehow.

hahaha yeah that buzzing annoyed me forever when i was running the same exact setup as you (I was on V2 PCDs though). That buzzing comes from the flex pipes on the jpipe. The stock catback causes it to resonate between 2800 to about 4000rpms.

What i did was put 2 hose clamps at both ends of each flex pipe. If you feel the flex pipe, you can feel the inner metal support that the mesh is ringing on.

the clamps did not totally get rid of the buzzing but minimized the sound a great deal. Now with the much bigger catback exhaust, the jpipe does not resonate as much as before.
