Drum to Disc conversion

can anyone detail what is involved in swapping drums for discs. I have drums on my 07 sedan in the rear... I already have a set of rear rotors, pads and the actual rear calipers... what do I have to do

u need the whole rear knuckle assembly (comes with the wheel bearings and spindles) from a EX model, and the e-brake cables from the EX and also the proportioning valve and rear brake lines

hmm.. so whats the general opinion on this? worth it? i happen to have rear discs and pads and calipers... but nothing else...

If you have all of that check the junkyards for the rest of what you need, probably won't be too expensive considering there is not a huge demand for such parts. I personally hate working on drum brakes that's why every car I've owned has disc all the way around, plus it just looks better.

I think its worth doing the swap, specially if u have aftermarket set of wheels so the rear doesnt look so open...

check on ebay i remember seeing some knuckles with spindles for like 75 a piece so about 150 for the pair

as for the e-brake lines and proportioning valve check out sites like majestic or bkhonda and buy them new.

its a bunch of searching around. I think the job will come in at around 500 bucks, figure 100 for each knuckle, 150 for the rotors and pads, 50 for each caliper (already spent this money) and another 100 or so for the lines... I just put on some pretty open 18s and I'm hating the drums behind them.

thats a pretty good write up, but a little unclear about the parts involved. I just ordered up the spindles with hubs and new stoptech stainless steel brake lines for the front and rear. I'm supposing all thats left are the e brake lines (why do these need to be changed?) and the proportioning valve

U might need a master cylinder out of an accord with 4 wheel disc because your master cylinder is for disc and drums.

Nope no need for the master cylinder. Just everything ADI said. Proportioning valve is important. Make sure its from an EX with disk brakes. I think its worth it, feels better when I brake. Also, I would suggest a rebuild of the caliper. My passenger one lasted for 2 years then seized.

Find a local LKQ in your area. I purchased entire assembly for $75.00 per side, also purchased new rotors & rebuilt calipers.

Parts needed hubs, spindles, rotors, calipers, new e-brake cable under $40.00 new (they are different from drum to disk)

neoryan - this proportioning valve... I can't seem to locate one. Point me in the right direction? For example, theres ones on ebay, but I'm not sure if thats the part... heres a link

Two left & right. Goes from each rear wheel to center console.

I did not change proportion valve. No issues.

damn it! i just purchased a proportion valve! guess that was a waste huh... oh well what can you do it was 30 bucks... And why is everyone saying it needs to be changed then, thats frustrating

I think if you have the LX drum proportioning valve you are sending improper pressure to the back calipers. Its either more or less I don't remember which one it is.
And if you are going to spend the money to actually do the conversion why not do it with the appropriate pieces. Its freakin $30 bucks. If it didn't matter then why would honda spend the time and money to make a different one?

thats how i look at it, whats 30 dollars if it's an important component to the swap? this is a pretty expensive process anyway so i'm glad i bought it

Do the conversion leave original, drive it for a few weeks then swap to see if you notice a difference.
