My AV6 Daily

Well i picked this car up last friday and sole purpose was to be a daily driver. I dont know how much longer i can last with not modifying it. The car already has an AEM v2 Intake and Borla catback exhaust. Also the car has an JL Equalizer under passenger seat and Alpine Amp under the driver seat. The car also came with the full HFP package, HIDs, HID fogs too. Was the original owner of this car on here?

I got this to drive while i rebuild my 94 CX hatch with a GSR and 6262 turbo. Was planning on parting that out and putting a J in it. Now i might just completely part with all of it... Buy the PCDs and J Pipe.. and a bottle..

is it a 6speed? The dyno is kinda low with the intake and exhuast. Stock dyno is around where your at. But the 1/4 mile time looks to be on target

Yes, car is a 6 speed. Mustang dynos read lower than dynojets and dynapacks.

Very nice, mustang dyno breaks your heart lol. Just boost the j series bro the 6262 will be nice on this motor!

I have thought about it... Just wish there was something available for the dbw for tuning that wasnt a piggy back or $1200+ I was actually prett close with my guess on hp and tq. I thought the car would be around 214/180 so I was only off by 4hp and 4 tq. :-)

Thanks. I think its what ever comes in the hfp package. Looks like different springs not sure about shocks. Kind of looked like a coil sleeve. But im not sure.

Yeah, its the benefits of have friends that are well connected. I told someone I would sell i shell for $1k so they might buy it


i want to see what the j30 can do NA, so i might just hold on to the turbo for later down the road. Im probably going to be buying the pcds and j pipe next...


What intake manifold works best for the j30a4? I was also thinking about trying to get an adapter made for the K-series DBW skunk2 throttle body.Seeing how it pretty much looks like it bolts up.

Nice pickup man. I have a request. If your buddy owns a dyno shop I'm assuming you get dyno runs for free? If so, do you think you would be able to dyno the car with I/E/PCD/OEM Jpipe, and then again with the aftermarket Jpipe? Some people have noticed gains with the Jpipe (most), but once full bolt on, some are experiencing losses. If you could do this, that would be amazing and give us the details once and for all. If you can't, then that's fine too. I just figured since you are excited about your new ride and plan on doing these mods, that if it were at all possible, it'd really help.

Dyno time isn't free but, I will talk to him. I was talking to him about doing some test so that information is available for people to use. Dyno results get better responses and more.credit than the ass dyno.(no offense to anyone). Also it eliminates all the he said it does this bull****.

I will definitely talk to him about it. He recently did some testing to show actually results of what swapping a gsr intake cam does on a NA engine. Engine that was used was a stock b16, the thread is over on Honda-tech. There is a bunch of bull**** posted in the thread though from the guy that started the thread and people from another local shop. He left that shop and came to my friend. So they aren't to happy and criticize everything.

Let me know, I can't see that section yet. Think I need more post. I'm not abiding it up either though. So it may take a little time. Any difference between the v2 and v3?

I'm also going to try and remember to write down the weather conditions also. (Temperature and humidity)

I have to talk to my friend and see what I can work out with him.

Current numbers are with everything connected to the borla catback exhaust.

So maybe one weekend
do the pcds, stock jpipe, disconnected from catback
Pcds, stock jpipe, and exhaust connected.

Next weekend
do the pcds, aftermarket jpipe, disconnected from catback

^^ That sounds like a good plan.

The V3 is made of slightly thicker metal, and the flanges are much thicker and cast iron I believe. They are much less prone to cracking than the V2s, which, have been known to crack and leak. When I had a cracked PCD, I had a CEL and the car ran like sh1t. Luckily my buddy and I were able to swap it out within a few days.

Thanks Sonnick. thats good to know about the cracking issue with the V2s. Did you get the ceramic coated v3s?

How long did it take for you to install the PCDs? Maybe install them at my house before i go over to his shop.

I didn't know there was a ceramic coated option, but no I went with the standards.

They aren't easy to install. I had a member (Stillloco) help me install them initially because I wouldn't have been able to do them myself. It took us roughly 3 hours (if I remember correctly) outside in the cold. If it were warmer, I'd say it would've cut off about 20 minutes or so, which isn't much. He did most of the work because I really am not that mechanically inclined, although I've learned a lot and think I'm decent at this point.

They are a PITA to install, but worth it when done. If you do plan on installing before you go to your buddy's shop, I'd recommend leaving yourself a solid 4 hours, if not slightly more to leave time for any issues you may run into.

I would try and do them at my friends shop or other friends job.. both have lifts and air tools if needed. :-)

According to Richies site, he has ceramic coated ones for an additional $75. 7th Gen (03-07)

we will see how my money is... just Sold my precision 6262 to a friend. So im going to start saving more before buying all my j parts.

Still havent gone Christmas shopping....

Talking to Sean right now about ordering mounts :-) Really would like to get the NRG torque dampener w/ custom bracket but have to wait I guess for another production run of them..

Maybe do a dyno before and after install of the mounts and see how much is lost to the ground with bad mounts. I think it will be pretty interesting if there are any gains showed from just the install of mounts that keep the engine from moving.

Mustang dynos I have seen always read lower than the dynojets and dynopacks.

Also decided that the car will be getting one of Pauls PCD/JPipes in a couple months instead of using the V3 pcd and jpipe from rv6. Watching Cubano's thread also about the 4in intake and looking into the J37 intake manifold :-)

Do you guys know what the part number is for just the j30 intake runners? Thinking about getting a extra set and porting them and also possibly doing the MDX spacer.

Did i mention I cant wait till tax season.

So... got my oil changed yesterday and the guy said that my engine has rod knock... This was at a quick oil change place near my house. Seeing how it was my first oil change since I got the car(Just under 3,000 miles for owning the car and it just broke 92k miles.)

Anyone have personal experience with GWC Warranties?

I've only heard bad things about extended warranties through anyone else but the vehicle manufacturer...

That's what I'm worried about. if they don't replace the engine then I'm going to demand a full refund of the cost and buy a j32a3 for a quick replacement, more power, and minimal downtime

J30a4 6 speed manual
AEM v2 intake
Borla Catback Exhaust
High Flow Cat
RV6 V2, ATLP V1, or XLR8 V1 Jpipe (Dotted Lines on Graphs)
XLR8 V2 Jpipe/cat delete(Solid Lines)
The difference:


Testing Conditions:
The dynos were done at YCU Dyno Tuning Specialist in York, PA on their Mustang Dyno MD-500. Pulls were all done with the cars engine coolant temperature at 180 degrees. Temperature in the shop was averaging about 69 degrees(We were opening and shutting the door when the temperature was rising above 72 degrees and dropped to/below 65). Intake air temperatures were in the high 60s, low 70s before the start of each run.

The RESULTS!!!!
Before the ECU was reset.
XLR8 V2: 222.416 whp 188.071 wtq
Unknown jpipe/high flow cat: 215.371 whp 180.825 wtq
Gains: 7.045 whp 7.246 wtq
(sorry for this pic forgot to tell him to save it and send it to me.)


After the ECU was reset and had around ten 1/4 mile runs and about six power pulls.
XLR8 V2: 225.769 whp 189.962 wtq
Unknown jpipe/high flow cat: 215.371 whp 180.825 wtq
Gains: 10.398 whp 9.137 wtq

Here is the final graph.



Overall Opinion:
The pipe looks great and out performs the j-pipe and high flow cat that was on the car. I can feel the power increase while driving the car with the butt dyno. The removal and install of the J-Pipe took less than two hours. But that was with lots distractions and the car up in the air and a little cordless impact. Other tools used were sockets, wrenchs, and breaker bar. Three people were used to during this install(holding/placement j-pipe, pulling back exhaust, and lining up the holes/putting bolts in it). During the install I had one of the studs back out of a cat so we replaced it with a new one and a nut. Also im not sure if its in the directions or not, but I removed the hanger bushing and placed it on the J-Pipe before install. I give this pipe

WOW. 10/10 over another JP/TP? Count me in for the group buy!

Coincidentally, I also recently bought a SSM 6 speed with HFP suspension and body kit, but it was bone stock other than that. Can't wait to get some goodies under her hood
