New here

Hello, I'm new here! Recently I've been using this forum to get help on my head unit in my car, but am also interested in getting into performance. I need some advice on what to start out with.

My car is a 2007 Honda Accord v6 3.0L EX-L Coupe, Automatic transmission. It only has 60k miles on it.
I want to add a few horsepower to the wheels/torque.
Note: I don't know hardly anything about car performance modding, all these Dyno's, J-pipes, and related threads have me baffled.

I was thinking about getting a K&N CAI 69 Series Typhoon Complete Cold Air Intake Kit and have my mechanic install it for me. I was also considering getting a yellowtop D35 battery and maybe some really good spark plugs.

Please comment and give me advice on what I should consider starting out with. I don't have thousands of dollars laying around to just throw at a turbocharger lol so that's not an option.

Can you send me a link? I can't find it under classifieds. How much are they? And what do you think it would cost to have a mechanic install them?

^ DIY. Just pull the fuel pump fuse. jam a breaker bar under the car and blimp the starter.

Free labor!

If you can't install it yourself its not worth modding your car. Labor probably going to cost as much as the part

After a considerable amount of research, I have decided that due to the expensive tuition of upcoming college, I will not be able to tune the performance of my accord. Mainly because it's like 600$ here, 400$ there, and 1500$ again over there just to get a few more hp out of my car. Not only that, but I don't have the knowledge or required equipment to install them myself, so I would have to end up paying a mechanic. I need to save my money Down the road a decade or so, I will have worked hard and will be able to afford something nice like a Corvette and will be able to enjoy the power of that

You have to have realistic goals with the Accord...or pay out the ass for full custom jobs that still aren't as good as some competitors due to FWD.

There are many better platforms for cheap/easy power. Anything that comes stock with a turbo and AWD/RWD is probably a better bet. Large displacement V8s is another good start.

Then why are you on a forum predominately for Accord owners? Nothing better to do brah? Not everyone wants to be a prick and drive a Mercedes or a Corvette.

no, you aren't the one on here bashing the accord for no obvious reason.

i'm just not a fan of Mercedes for the same reason I hate the iPhone. It's an overpriced status symbol. That's just my opinion.
I just personally can't justify paying that much for a car.

You're doing the same thing and bashing the Mercedes along with the iPhone.. ??

Same principal, different intent. He asked a question and I gave my opinion. I didn't randomly thread troll and say something random and off topic. That's my only point. I'm cool with people that differing opinions. Just don't be a troll or an e'thug...that's just pathetic. That's all the energy I'm wasting on this topic.

If you find yourself with some extra cash, the XLR8 v2 j-pipe will be your biggest bang for the buck. Noticeable bump in midrange torque and your car will stay quiet.

If I could do it over again I would do:
Pre-cat deletes, Jpipe, and a drop-in filter, Unorthodox pulley if you get bored. A CAI will give little to no gain in the real world given how the stock airbox is routed. Catback exhaust isn't worth the drone if it's your daily driver.

For plugs use the OEM NGK laser iridiums
Those are your best gains.

A cold air gives great amount of power in the real world untuned...stock air box sucks & restrictive

^yeah, because of the aggressive sound the CAI was my favorite mod. Even now I miss it. Though the whine of the supercharger is a close second.

Sounds like the OP isn't too mechanically inclined if he is going to pay for an intake to be installed so doing a J-pipe would cost a lot less in labor than PCD's. Plus then you have to factor in if the rasp is acceptable, if not, than an additional resonator would probably be needed.
