Magnesium IM port measurement

42.3-42.7mm for the TL-S IM. Looks like I need to get this baby ported out.

I suggest you all measure out your IM also. Since my ported runners were 44mm. My extra large ported runners are 45mm-46mm

You guys know what to do next

Did you port all the runners you did to 44mm? Besides the larger ones?

yeah. they all should be ~44mm standard for all the one that I did. I think these were the very first few that I did and put on my car.

the extra large one I had a shop do it for me since they were doing my head anyways

I need to measure.

How do you port the 3.7 TL manifold? Never done anything like that but I would like it matched.

the 3.7 is smaller than the stock j30 diameter.
However porting magnesium is highly advised against. Unless you like explosions, have a shop do it.

Though I've gotta say, 44mm or even 45mm runners aren't going to hurt anything. a .05mm gap on each side isn't going to hurt velocity or create any turbulence. Getting everything torqued to spec might give you more hp than a perfect port vs oversized entrance.

Has anyone even Flowbenched the Magnesium intake to see if it really does have better flow/volume than say...... a ported J32A2/J35A3 intake manifold & runner set up?

No.
I suppose there's no ghetto way to configure a flow bench is there.

Ghetto? WTF, really?

There are FlowBench packages you can buy for a home set up. Runs about $1500 though. They are suppose to be pretty accurate, but... would be alot cheaper to just have a manifold FlowBenched at a shop.

We're measuring how fast air moves from one place to another right?

There's gotta be a semi-accurate way to measure how much water goes from one bucket to another in 5s through a glorified funnel. Other than a $2000 machine. Or a test that costs $200.

Unless the difference between semi-accurate and accurate is more than 5hp. When you're just looking for is one better than another as long as the accuracy is consistent, the numbers are completely irrelevant other than in relation to each other.

You could always go plop down a few hundred to answer an internet question though. Guess I get down differently.
