Talking UR 12V Charger Series Crank Pulley

Just sent this email to Shawn @ Unorthodox Racing [email protected]

Hope this pans out....

"Shawn,

Is UR planning on developing a crank pulley for the new 7th Gen Honda Accord 3.0L V6? I have a great interest in the “12V street charger series” if possible. I’d assume most members from www.v6performance.net would be interested as well (an understatement to say the least!) Even if you have no plans for mass production, I’d love to have a one-off done if possible. The dyno results from the 03 CL Type-S 6-spd are really impressive… I’d assume we could expect similar results on the 03-04 Accord J30A4 motors.

Any help in this matter greatly appreciated. If need be, you can also reach me on my cell at xxx-xxx-xxxx.

Thanks much,

Jim "MackDaddy" Mackenzie"

If I'd searched before posting this, I'd have seen that 6spdcoupe is our pioneering member helping us get this done! Whoops...

Although my email to UR certainly didn't hurt.

I really don't want to come across as "attaching" UR, but that CLS dyno is std corrected, and therefore, really meaningless. Pullies on the CL types produces only a 5whp gain, at peak. This has been dyno proven over, and over again. If you doubt me go to www.acura-cl.com and ask them in the car talk section how much power pullies give.

I don't doubt you one bit. I used to have an 01 CL Type S with a UR crank pulley. What I liked about it was increased off the line "throttle respose."

We are currently working on the pulleys for that engine, we don’t have any immediate plans to make a 12V model but a custom unit can be made, cost would be approx. $500. To make them a production part we would need approx. a 70 unit commitment from interested vehicle owners, we could offer group buy pricing that would knock about 10-15% off the street retail price. Production pricing will be similar to the 1998-02 V6 12V unit.

I guess so from what Shawn stated. I'd assume they're making the "underdriven" unit, of which I have no interest in.

Oh well.....

Edit: Sorry, reread your post. The 12V unit would be same diameter as the OE pulley. No "underdriving." Still a nice gain in weight reduction alone (they state 85% of the HP gain is from weight reduction.)

V6Performance is currently working on getting a 3 peice set for the 03-04 accords. I am just having a bit of trouble getting a set of pulleys on loan for 2-3 days. Once that details is worked out, we will be underway into getting a set for your vehicles.

Stay tuned,

Toby,

Sounds great. I'd really love to see an OE stock diameter crank pulley made, just lightned.

We will do a couple variations.
I will make a set of ALL 3 the stock diameter, and then a set of underdriven. But the underdrivens are not going to be crazy like the UR SS series.

Crazy meaning that we will try and keep the underdriving of the alt. as minimal as possible without harming the charging system.

They will be a product offered by V6 Performance Network, Inc. (the behind the scenes company this site actually is )

This means they will be for sale to EVERYONE and ANYONE that wants to buy. They are going to be a "normally stocked" item

Toby,

Any news on J30A4 pullies?

Looks like UR is dragging their feet on this one.
