Exhaust Debate Size

So here is a chart of some inner area of different pipe and single or dual setup. I know some cars from factory come with true dual 2.5 exhaust such as IS350 (300hp NA 3.5) and N54 335 (300hp Twin turbo 3.0) and also the rv6 true dual tl exhaust is dual 2.5

Looking at the math, a 3.5 single exhaust is similar to a dual 2.5

Anyways with the said, i think a 3" exhaust might still be too small for us especially with a raise rev limiter

pipe minus wall area if dual
1 0.875 0.601015625 1.20203125
1.25 1.125 0.993515625 1.98703125
1.5 1.375 1.484140625 2.96828125
1.75 1.625 2.072890625 4.14578125
2 1.875 2.759765625 5.51953125
2.25 2.125 3.544765625 7.08953125
2.5 2.375 4.427890625 8.85578125
3 2.875 6.488515625 12.97703125
3.5 3.375 8.941640625 17.88328125
4 3.875 11.78726563 23.57453125

And most of us are shooting for that number so 3" primary seems to be favorite even though the J-pipes are 2.5"

Favorite trend seems to be going from a 2.5 j pipe, to a 3" primary, to a 2.5" dual (=to 2.5/3.0/3.5 single piping)

There is also added wall surface area drag and resistance from running two pipes and two mufflers. Brings the equivalent size down to 3.25-3.4" roughly.

I say best setup is either 3" straight, or 3 to 2.5-2.25 if you cant get near 300hp. but 2.25 piping isnt the easiest to find performance parts for.

really tempted on these headers due to size. 3 inch catback or dual 2.5 would be a perfect match. might part out my rv6 v3 and xlr8 v2
