J37A1 into a 7th gen AV6

As the title states I am putting a J37A1 into a 04 AV6 AT and converting it to MT. The engine is a rebuilt J37A1 with new block and rotating assembly as well as ported heads.

This is very interesting and cool Paul. What is the rev limit of a J37A1? Will this have a lightweight crank pulley to spin that Tachometer even faster?

The J37A1 uses the same valve springs as the TL-S, has oil squirters to help keep the pistons cooler and the cylinder walls lubed as well as larger connecting rod journals 55mm vs 50mm for J32 and J35 engines. So it should be good for 7K or better. Not sure if 2004AV6 has a light weight or stock pulley.

Crazy! If you need another set of J37 heads, let me know. I have a set of 2010s with less than 15K on them. Good luck with the build, should be great once completed.

Thanks, it's been a long time coming, but yeah liking my little 1200sqft shop with 12ft ceiling. But can't wait till the weather warms up so I can add another 450ft for parts storage so maybe I can go thru my crap pile and find the 50K in parts that are mixed in and get it organized.

Well, not sure what 2004aV6 plans are after the swap as far as induction. As for me I have some things in the works since I am going to have to feed a 4.0L at some point......

^ He's probably the meanest Dane you'll ever meet, at least to strangers. Never fixed him so that may play a roll.

Yeah, they don't live all that long, he's almost 5 now and still going strong. He's not too big either (130lbs). Anyways, back to cars

Well, she is a runner. Ran into one gotcha with the front engine mount casting, modified mine to work for now and ordered in the one from the 07 TLS. Also the oil pressure sensor from the MDX as well as other newer vehicles works reverse to the 3rd gen TL/ 7th gen AV6. In our vehicles it is a "Normally Open Switch", the new design is a "Normally Closed Switch". So as you can imagine this made for interesting times when first starting her and seeing the OP indicator still on on the cluster and I don't like my life that interesting.....

Anyways after the first 50 miles, one word, TORQUE. Just effortless driving, 1st gear is useless unless you are starting out on a incline.

Would not have been cost effective given you were already a MT and would have large gains over a 3.6L, we are only talking about .1L

so how much was the block and trans? This sounds very promising for people want to stay NA instead of building a block for boost

if anyone is interested ;p
