Axle Upgrade

So looking around, it seems the J32 axles are an improvement over the J30 tooth pics. Question, do you need the full half shaft to go along with the axles?

I recall being told the TL-S axles will work as long as you get the half shaft also.

Has anyone swapped the J32 or TL-s axles, and what did you use?

Not sure if this is what your asking but they are talking about the TLS axle swap Paul knows apparently what's needed.

^ yeah same problem. But I am sure that you need both TL-S axle and the half-shaft. I asked Paul a while back.

I'm curious as to the TL 3.2. The reason is the price of the TL-S. Might as well go full custom

Well there we go. Now we have both thread linked up, this one supplying an aftermarket performance supplier.

I contacted "Driveshaft shop" and they will make our axles. We can swap our half shafts (maybe 3.2, 3.5) to beef them up and then have them make axles to any HP/TQ spec you want. I'm trying to locate a 3.2 TL half shaft to compare to the J30. I'm being told the J32 is a bump up from the J30.

I'll let you know what price they hit me with. Looking for axles to handle 500wtq (way over kill)

May want to contact Insane Shafts also. Buddy of mine are using them on his 400+HP SC K-series sedan. That was my plan but funds won't allow for that as yet. Plus I don't have DTb on the J36 yet

pricing would be less than tls?

if my axles were bent i would feel it while driving at any speed right? i get shaking when pulling in 2nd. Its not wheel hop because they are not spinning. any idea?

Tire balance, bad tires, could also be your axles. Mine comes and goes, not bad so I don't worry. I just bought TL axles and half shafts for $120! Ill get measurements when they come in, but they look much beefier.

Driveshaft shop does not supply half shafts so you need to upgrade to J32 or J35 (TLS) half shaft. They require what half shaft your running in order to match axles, then they build to whatever HP U want. I'm going to see how these J32 and decide from there. At $80 axle for J32 I may just snap axles and replace them Rather tear up axles then trans.

Ok, here we go on the 1/2 shaft.....

7th gen AV6 AT and TL AT share the same part.
7th gen AV6 MT, same shaft as the AT but uses a cast steel mounting bracket rather than aluminum that the AT uses, bearing part number is the same.
TLS MT uses steel mounting bracket and slightly larger at the splined end of the shaft, enough to make a huge difference, not really, also uses same bearing.

When all is said and done the significant difference is the steel vs aluminum mounting bracket which also houses the bearing, I have seen the aluminum bracket stretch at the bearing housing creating just a little bit of play that translates to vibration when accelerating like a bad inner joint.

I have a set of Insane Shaft axles too but I haven't installed them yet. They make an up to 500hp version and an up to 1000hp version.

^ I will most likely need to get a progressive controller, or run dual stages (50hp off line, 100 shot second stage). Once my swap is complete I will be working on a direct port set up, into the runners so it's not visible.
