Difference between J35A8 and J37

Can the J37 bolt up to the J35 bell housing ?

I know the exhaust ports are different
Has vtec on both intake and exhaust.

What would have to be done to put this motor in a 2005 RL ?

Found a j37 out of a RL for dirt cheap . I just find it hard that it only has 10hp and 10ft lbs more torque but for 700 bucks maybe pick it up and toss it in if it will bolt up to the j35 tranny

I would yank the heads off and port them as well as the rest of the intake track. The exhaust flanges are the larger style on the dual vtec heads so you may have to swap out PCDs for 8th gen AV6. The other and in my opinion biggest piece is to find 07-08 TL wiring harnesses and ECU, make a conversion harness for the RL chassis and put Hondata on to tune it properly to get the new power out.

Well just did some PCD's on some J37 and the J37 exhaust ports are wider then the J35 and also the EGR port is external so would need the J37 pcd.

If i were to make a wiring harness for the RL. Does the tl and RL ecu control the trannies ?

Yes, the ECU controls the tranny. As far as the EGR, you can swap over the water cross casting off your old engine or make a flange/hose barb connection and run a hose to your intake tube to feed clean air into the EGR.

If your running Flash Pro you can simply turn the EGR off like I did.
