HFPC Causing Heat Shield Rattle?

Hello Community

I recently installed some RV6 Performance High Flow Pre Cats (HFPCs) on my car and ever since then I have heard a rattle noise from underneath the car in certain driving conditions.

I'm almost positive that the noise is coming from the heat shield which protects the drive axle mid-shaft which is very close to the rear pre-cat. I'll post a picture later today.

Has anyone experienced similar issue after installing the HFPC? I'm guessing most of you went with PCD instead, which may be completely different shape and size than the HFPC.

thank you,
J

I have HFPC I don't have any noise. Check around the J-pipe and make sure nothing is busted

Did you support the j-pipe when replacing the Pre cats? May have bent the heats shields or something. I had rattle from the shield over the steering rack on the sub frame, so I bent it a little in the opposite direction to keep a little tension on it, noise went away.

does yours only rattle after the car warms up?

i also have the major rattle but only after the car heats up pretty good. i haven't had a chance to get under there yet, but i can hear it when letting off the gas and also if i'm idling i can hear it. when i shut any doors, it rattles also.

interested to see what you find

I had issues after some time, it happens, it's a heatshield. Modify it as needed, I only had 2 screws in which was my problem. You might just have a screw loose!

did you just tighten or did you push the shield towards the driver then tighen?

i checked about 6 months ago when i switched my xlr8 v1 for an atlp v2 jpipe, but no screws were loose

Ok so interestingly enough, there was a bolt loose - the one for the J-pipe exhaust mount. Apparently I left it loose after installing the HFPCs.

After tightening that up the rattle went away.

sockr1 to answer your question no it was all the time for me, but could be different for your situation.
