Quaife LSD?

Was looking around through some old threads, and saw one about the Quaife LSD, so for kicks I e-mailed them to find out if they had any plans. Guy says that there we no plans, unless atleast 30 people said they wanted them.

Are these things supposed to be awesome? Worth it for our car? I'm not an expert on any of this stuff, still learnin'. Any opinions?

Prices for some of the other ones were like $800-900.

From what I read on their site, Limited Slip Differential allows for more power distribution to the wheels, instead of directing more power to the slipping wheel, it redirects it to the non-spinning wheel, to get more useable power to the ground. Atleast that's what I understand from the Quaife marketing material, I could be incorrect or misled.

an LSD would be an awesome addition to our car, I was thinking of taking one straight from a CL/TL-S 6 speed and putting it into my car.

The only thing prohibiting me is cost.

I've done a lot of reading on the RSX forums and they absolutely love the Quaife LSD- it's the first LSD recommended any time the topic comes up.

Dangermouse- you're right on for the benefits of an LSD- it definitely helps in getting power to the ground but it also helps quite a bit in cornering as well. I believe it's because it allows the wheels to spin at different speeds, meaning that the outside wheel can spin faster, which is good in a turn. I could be wrong, I did research on LSDs several months ago.

I'm very very interested in getting an LSD into my car, unfortunately I don't have the money to do so right now.

The most cost prohibitive part of an LSD is the installation- taking apart a tranny is not cheap or easy. I'd volunteer my car for testing/review if someone wants to install one and I'd pay for the part

Somewhat correct. An lsd [limited slip differential] allows not only the wheels to continue spinning at different rpms during cornering [somthing that happens from the factory on every car ever made, its dangerous to not have this happen] but it will lock both wheels together during hard acceleration/loosing tractions so power goes to both wheels and not just one.
