Unhappy ? on Borla exhaust tip extension.

Did you guys have trouble finding a shop to do this? I went to 3 shops already and they said they couldn't do it. Whether they didn't have enough room to cut or they didn't have any stainless steel pipings and what not. I had the rear under spoiler installed yesterday and it needs to be extended. And if anyone from 408/510 area that had this done, which shop did you go to?

I still have to get mine extended too...

The place you go to needs to have a TIG welder...which is the only welder that can weld stainless steel...that may be the problem.

Also, have them weld it somewhere in between the actually Muffler and the tip...

No problem! Also, like you said about the stainless steel piping...you can only weld stainless steel to stainless steel. You should be able to find a shop somewhere that can do that.

Not true. Steel and stainless can be welded together with no problem. Anyone that welds steel can weld stainless. There is no special equipment needed. Matter of fact, most welding wire (used on plain steel) is made of stainless steel.

I have Borla exhaust but I have no rear lip, I was going to order it but I dont understand what the problem is? My stock exhaust was in the same exact place as the Borla. Is the problem that the lip extends OVER the tips, so the tips are just set back? If that's so it is not necessary the tips have to be extended correct? Thanks!

Tom

The way it came from Borla fits car without rear lip perfectly.. it is only when someone have a body kit (ie, oem rear lip) then extension is needed...

Ok, but does it actually not fit until the exhaust tips are extended or can you install the rear lip and then after fix the tips?

oh.. it is not the question about "fit' or not.. its only the look factor.. they will "fit" with or without lip.. but with lip.. the tip is all covered up unless you extend..
