launch rpm

hey everyone. i want to take my bone stock v6 mt to the track. i'm new at this, so i was wondering, what rpm do all of you launch at for best results? i know our stock tires aren't too sticky and i dont want to waste time peeling out at the start.

Your best bet is to experiment with throttle and clutch modulation. Your wheels will spin to some extent, unless you feather the heck outta your clutch--which is murder on the clutch.

When I want a good launch, I tach it up to about 2,500 RPMs. I've had better launches with lower and higher RPMs than that, but you're going to have to find out what works best for you. Go practice in a deserted parking lot before you take it to the track.

I've heard people say that at most tracks the built up rubber on the start line gives you alot more traction, so you may have to launch higher than on the street. Anyone have any experience with this?

If you had sticky-type tires (slicks, street/strip tires, etc.), then the rubber on the track may help....... but with stock tires, it won't make much difference. It'll still spin a good bit.

I always lower my front tire pressures before strip racing (to about 24 psi), raise my rears (to 40 psi), and heat my tires up good in the burnout box. They'll never grab like good sticky strip tires, but heating the tires up help some...... the warmer they are, the better the traction they'll provide.

You'll want some tire spin also, in order to keep the revs up where you're making more power, rather than bogging some without spinning.
