Some members educated guesses are around 400 HP on stock internals. Thats for the J30A1 (6th gen AV6) but the J30A4 should be around the same. The 7th gen tranny might be a problem even if you had it fixed under the recall.

So lets open the question up to 6-speeds. How much can the manual trannys take?

I would say the same as the 6-speed cl-s owners are making.

Is the J30a4 engine as strong as the CL-S engine?

If your serious about it a turbo or a supercharger I would call reeves callaway he did the twin turbo vette for chevrolet and the turbo golf experimentals for VW. There shop is up in lime rock Conneticut. I called him on my BMW 735 a couple of years ago. He did a custom turbo for me cost between 5-6K, but as people have said mine was an automatic and I spun three transmissions out of it over 18 months. Then sold it, at 1800 a piece fortransmissions it was cheaper to buy a car that was fast to begin with.
