Question about Cl Type S tranny in accord coupe.

I have searched and read every thread I could find about the Acura CL-S tranny. From what I gather, it will fit our car, or, you could just use the Limited slip Diff and save you some money, but my question is, has anybody actually done this yet. I can find no reviews or reports on this. I want to know if it is worth it. I have found the LSD for $850 plus about $500 for installation. I installed a LSD from the Integra Type R into my GSR, and it was well worth the price. Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks alot.

I will see what I can do. Does anybody know where to buy the Tranny other than Acura? I called, and they want $5500 for the tranny, and $1050 for the diff seperate. ??

2003 CL-S transmission with LSD built in:

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...prddisplay.jsp

Illustration #4 - TRANSMISSION ASSY - $4295.90

2004 Accord V6 6 speed transmission (no LSD):

Illustration #4 - TRANSMISSION ASSY - $1456.17

The CL-S tranny is not worth the money. Keep the Accord tranny and have someone put in an aftermarket LSD.

Sweet. Thanks for your help. And this will definatley bolt up right? How much do you think I could get for my tranny? 20000 miles and buttery smooth? Also, do you think the tranny would be worth it? I will put a little money into the car, because I dont owe but 6 grand on it. Thanks

Thats all the 6 speed tranny is in the 7th gen? Damn that LSD makes the prics triple when the unit alone is under a g. Makes no sense...

It's an Acura part. The Acura name alone increases the price, even if its the same or similar part found in a Honda .

So, theoretically, I should buy the LSD for one thousand and just pay Honda to put it in?

Don't have Honda install it, they will rip you off. Find a good shop in your area and have them do it.

Plumaccourdcoupe, how cheap have you found the LSD for alone? Thanks. Also, slayer, there is several kinds of LSD that all work a little differently. Basically, It sends the power to the wheel with the most grip, instead of all the power going to the wheel with the least grip. It really helps in cornering more than straight line performance. It is more technical than that, and I am sure somebody will post the technical aspect of it..

someone correct me if i'm wrong but LSD = Limited Slip Diffrential, it does what it sounds like. It limits how much you car slips by transferring the power from the wheel that is slipping to the wheel that has grip. In the case of the CL-S the lsd is only in the front because it is a fwd, so it transfers power between the front wheels.

CL-S 6 speed LSD

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...prddisplay.jsp

Illustration #1 - DIFFERENTIAL ASSY., HELICAL LIMITED SLIP - $836.78

You will have to search for it in the list though. Go under the 2003 CL-S 6 speed parts list and then go to the DIFFERENTIAL section. The part I listed is in there.

hahaha I remember somebody said "why would you want to put drugs in your car?" one time.

An example of when LSD working is when you are making a really sharp turn, say a left turn. All of the weight of the car will shift to the left side making the right side weight less causing slipping. So LSD gives less power to left and brings it to the right making the turn easier.

doesn't lsd help when drag racing making two even burn-outs lines?

Smile

I just purchased the CL-S LSD from eBay and I tried to call around my region in San Diego and no one seems to be able to install it.

Can anyone suggest a reputable and reasonably price installer in San Diego for me?

Greatly appreciated!

eVTEC, What did you type to find it. I have been searching for a while, and can not find one on ebay, and I am an Ebay king! Anyway, just ask around for who is the most reputable transmission shop in your area, and let them do it. Just make sure the warranty it...Let me know how it goes when you install it...

This is where I got it from. I believe it is still in good working condition because the seller said it was taken from a rear ended CL-S.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

I also need to have it checked by the shop that does the installation.

evtec, 20 dollars, what a steal..If you see another one, Please PM me and let me know, or, If you dont use it, let me know. Also, I was looking up parts for the 03 accord today, and seen the stock suspension you have for sale on there, and thought to myself, "I bet you are a member of V6P.net" and voila, you are. What a coincidence. Anyway, let me know...If you find another one that cheap, I will give you a finders fee.

Well, I have been looking REAL REAL HARD on eBay for over 6 months. I guess my patience did pay off. I saw another guy selling CL-S whole Tranny with LSD and the ending bid was about $1200.00 + shipping (Must be hell lot of $$) and for that price I might as well get a brand new LSD from Acura.

Anyway, I did check the diagram in case I got regular diff not LSD with www.acuraautomotiveparts.org and this is exactly the LSD listed, the shape and helical gears (As I can see the inside of it) matches.

Anyway, I still need to look for a reputable installer around my region.

Any suggestions?

Hey, are you really interested in my 6MT OEM suspension kit? I changed to HFP ones and so I have them packed in the same HFP suspension box.

Actually I am thinking if I can take photos of the installation process but first of all I need to find a good installer that is willing to allow me taking some photographs. Besides I am not sure how long it will take to complete the installation. I can't sit there and wait for days if it takes that long.

eVTEC, I am interested in the HFP springs and struts, I was just mentioning that I seen you had the Stock ones for sale on ebay, thats all. And, a good shop can put your LSD in an hour or two. The Diff is easier to put in than say, synchros. Anyway, that would be sweet to take some pics. Also, keep me in mind if you find another LSD or tranny, it would be worth your while..Thanks

Wink Can't find installer for the LSD!

Hi, it's been a while and I tried to find local installer for my LSD but I found none. All the guys I talked to either do not recommend and refused to do it and/or simply don't know what is going on for my installation.

I am in San Diego area so if anyone live around here and can recommend a reputable performance installer for my LSD that will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.
