Just got a greddy evo2, but have a ?

First off, let me say that this exhaust is beautiful, and the sound from the outside is great. But here lie my question. Is it normal for the sound of the exhaust to be louder from the inside of my car than outside? Cause if I stand on the outside of my car and my buddy floor it for me, the sound is amazing. But while I'm driving, the sounds seem a bit noisy, compare to the sound from the outside. Any help would be very helpful.

Mine can get like that sometimes too but it's only in very cold weather (30 and below). I would check all the gaskets and check for any leaks other than that. The exhaust mellows out a little bit after break-in. The sound from this exhaust is amazing

You should've posted this in General forum for more feedback.

Greddy Evo line exhausts tend to be more "louder" inside then what you can hear from outside.

Many exhausts are like that actually. Tanabe tend to be like this also.
Well, they sound loud outside AND inside.. but its louder inside.
It just means canister is well-designed for good sound suppresion.
Aftermarket exhaust system tend to have no-resonator under the car, or very small one.

You will have to just deal with it. Greddy Evo2 isn't loud at all though, compare to other exhausts.
I currently have tanabe ultra medallion on my prelude, its loud as hell from inside.
My greddy evo2 is coming in this week.. we'll see how loud it'll be inside the cabin.

Oh, and if you think its louder right now? It will get even MORE louder after break-in.
All the exhausts gets louder after putting couple hundreds of miles on 'em.
Greddy evo is main sample.

My Greddy Evo2 actually got quieter after break-in

I think it may be the ECU using a different fuel map after it adjusted to the new exhuast and intake? Just a guess because on every other car the exhaust gets louder after the break-in period. I also experienced this w/ my Borla. It could be in be in my head also. Ask DREW, his did the same thing w/ his AEM V2 and Greddy Evo setup

You are the first ones(and the people you listed) to say that exhaust actually got quieter after break-in period.

I don't think ECU has much to do with exhaust tone. Assuming from your mod list, you don't have aftermarket ecu..
So I'll assume that you just reset your ECU and saying that.
Which is what I said in other threads..
Alot of people tend to experience that Exhaust/Intake sound gets louder after ecu reset or after break-in(ecu gets used to 'em).
This is still a myth though, not proven yet. And I don't think just because of exhaust, ECU will actually adjust to different fuel map..

Then again, whenever I get intake, I always reset ECU because it seems like it gets louder.

I think its in our heads.... tripping us out.
I guess I'll pay more attention when I get my Evo2 installed.
Can't wait though. AEM V2 + Evo2 = sex.

I despise those exhaust systems that: when you're on the freeway and the car next to you with the exhaust is hummin' so friggin' much it's vibrating your car. I wonder how they can cope with their own exhaust-super drone.

Probably louder inside?

My tanabe ultra medallion is FREAKING LOUD from inside.
It is also loud outside(proven. because it didn't pass emission's sound test ), but not as bad as inside.

I hate those no-name exhaust systems that will just fart around the town, makes your car vibrate, and has that raspy tone to it.

but as far as they are quality exhaust systems, I don't mind hearing it.
because even loud ones sound good still.

I find that my Evo 2 has got louder since I originally got it installed. Sounds pretty sweet with my Injen intake.

I had a few custom exhausts installed and what I have been told is, at first they will get quieter from the black soot that covers the inside of the pipe, this acts as a sound deadener. If you have the straight through exhaust that has fiberglass or steel wool packing, eventually the packing loses its noise suppression properties and the system gets louder.

Have you checked your connections on your system?

I hope to buy an Evo2 cat back next week so I'm a little concerned about the noise inside the cabin.

Any info or sound clips on this would be helpful.

Thanks.
