J35A engine~!!!!

hey.. i was just curious... would it be possible to swap the RL's 3.5L engine into our 7gen coupes? if so.. would it also be possible to weld the rear differental onto the 7gen's which would turn our 7gen's into an Accord type SH.

... this is just an idea.. and i just wondered if it were even remotely possible...

doesnt Accord type SH have a nice ring to it?

in order to have SH-AWD, you'd need at least the RL transmission (which is auto only), SH-AWD computer (probably tied in with the ECM/PCM) as well as the driveshaft and rear differential. probably a lot more components too.

the engine should be relatively easy (compared to trying to swap in SH-AWD), the biggest problem would be the engine mounts and if it can bolt directly onto the accord's transmission.

Estimated list of needed parts:

RL LongBlock
RL Transmission
Custom Transmission Mounts
RL Rear Suspension
RL Rear Differential
Custom Exhaust Routing to make space for driveshaft

Custom metalwork (bending/welding) on center tunnel to make room for driveshaft AND exhaust is possibly needed.

Electronics?
RL ECU
Hacked up wireharness
RL Steeringwheel + Controls + Airbag
RL Shift knob assembly

Sensors needed for VSA? and SH-AWD?

Ton's of stuff, not a direct swap...but Honda DID make an AV6-SH, search their site, or this forum, theres a video on it

It would be cheaper to just trade your 2003 in for a new RL.

Why would you do a CL-S swap on a J30A4? Swap a whole engine for 10hp/10tq?

Well if since we are just talking. Seems to me that the latest 3.2 acura engine would be an easy swap from a doner car. The LSD from the 6MT would be a nice touch also. Wonder if it fits the 5AT trans? For that matter I wonder if the TL aluminum front subframe would fit? That sounds even more interesting, swap in the TL drivetrain complete. Engine, trans, subframe, brakes.

For the price of the swap you might as well just buy a freakin TL...

if you are looking for performance then just sell your car and get a american muscle car and like a used z06 and you got what you want. it can be modded so bad and easily get 600 hp from it.

Well since we're talking about dreamworld swaps, why not just slap in SH-AWD and the Mugen V8?

I was honestly thinking about this also. Being the car is so young I think someone some where in a while may try to do the 3.5 swap. It seems logical to me too. I mean both v6's w/ the RL being at 300hp.

Possilbe drop in motor and ECU?? Swaping the RL AWD is just crazy but if you have the cash power to you.

I mean someone has converted the accord V6 to manual.

So? amount of $$$$s thats gonna cost > 20hp/10tq.

I'll spend that money on J30A4 please.

You don't generally do a "swap" for 20hp/10tq. don't ya think?

Anyways. Its like kid's kindergarden up in here. "daddy, can that robot really do that?"

Accord Mugen V8 SH-AWD sounds good to me.
