need someone's help

guys, i have a problem just like every other auto av6 owner has. we got torque lock on our cars which means we cant launch our car with high revs. the best is around 1.7-1.8 rpm. when we rev abit more the car dont seem to launch properly as if you feel the car's face bends down as if exactly when you hit the rev limiter when shifting. i hate it. it slows down our cars alot. unlike the altima nissan it can take off the line reving high and can blow off our cars easily from start.

is there any way to remove the torque lock and be able to rev it higher when brake torquing to get a better launch.

i have searched and everyone seems to go offtopic in other threads or nothing useful.

your help appreciated

you can get a new torque converter with a higher stall speed. but it would suck for daily driving...

The stall speed of the torque converter affects your brake stall launch rpm's. The only way to change it, is to get a rebuilt torque converter or a replacement TC.

Think of the TC as the giant mushy clutch for autos that you only notice when it's not working.

Great site for info on the torque converter: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/torque-converter.htm

Anyway, for daily driving it would be like having a heavily slipping clutch all the time, jerky, and stop and go traffic would be your worste nightmare. Think, new driver, stomping the gas and then the brake whenever they moved an inch.

but isnt there anything we could do to make the launch of our cars better. when we launch the car in auto's, it feels slumpy first and wont take off properly.

you must have an auto to know how annoying it is. only if our cars would take off better.

drive one. rev between 1.7or 1.8 rpm and take off. its the best launch method and still its bad. unlike the nissan which launchs like a rocket

bigger engine and higher tourque. but it has no feel like of the auto av6 does. thats why they can rev the car higher. we can only rev the car max to 2 rpm, we would atleast need the lock moved to 2.5rpm and our cars would take off much better than current max 2 rpm

thats what i am asking. and i dont think our car is a match for the altima

anyways better keep the car as it is today with only the evo2 and injen rather than spend the money on a crappy unmodifiable single cam engine which is excellent for every day use but not for modification

well, you CAN modify it. it just takes some work. 02AV6 just ran a 13.4 with his Dr. Evil tranny slipping, he's making about 320 hp to the wheels, and Habib swapped in the whole j32, s/c, intercooled, he'll probably make way over 350 to the wheels, could be close to 400 whp. only problem is, its still a front wheel drive, 3200 pound (after some lightening) car. So if you're looking for a rocket, you might be better off something else. but you definately can mod the engine, and can make good power.
