gates is a decent brand. They also offer timing belt kits which includes the tensioner and the water pump. They should be replaced while you are in there. It's not really due until around 100,000 miles though or 6 or 7 years.

Buy the Helms factory service manual. This is not an obvious DIY job like changing your oil.

There are How-to video's on YouTube etc., but IMO you still need the factory service manual for all the specific details. You don't want to do this job with half the information. Even the best How-to videos will leave important information out.

So I chose this to be my first DIY project on the Accord EX V6. Can anybody tell me how to remove the one bolt on the lower cam cover that is behind the serpentine tensioner? I cannot figure out what tool to get that bugger off. Thanks

Remove the tensioner first.

I bought the car with 100 000 miles (160 000km) and the previous owner never replaced the timing belt (taught it was at 160k km).

I replaced it, the old one look like new without any cracks
