Cruse Control Question

Lets say I have set the cruise, and then hit the brake to slow a little, when I hit the restore/accelerate button, I have to tap it twice to get it to restore to the set point speed. As if the car is saying "are you sure you want to restore to the speed you were at?"

Anyone else notice this, or am I special? ha ha

Thanks

If you tap it it'll be like what was that? did u wanna enable or just sorta wanna enable and wasn't 100% sure if u did or didn't want it to enable. So it's like okay well I guess ur not sure. That second tap lasts a little longer and the car's like okay now I know he wants it enabled 100% sure.

The older the button gets as the car ages and with use. Causes the button to wear as any electronic button would when pressed 100's of thousands of times over it's life time.

So basically you have a few choices. Next time it happens on your first "tap" hold it down rather for say 1-2 seconds. It will enable then on the first go. This happens to all of our honda's and it's 100% normal.

You could pull it apart and remove the switch completely. Clean the plastic button cover and the sensor/ switch/ button mechanism with 91% alcohol and put it back together. At that point it should perform damn near as it was brand new.

The other option is buy a new cruise switch button/ mechanism. Then the tiny tap will work since the fresh new switch/ mechanism can detect these minute taps.

I have a similar issue, but not the same.

Cruise button turns on but only activates once in a while. I can literally hit the "Set" button 100 time trying to set it, and nothing. I try it a day later and one hit, it works.

Any ideas? I rarely use it but tried it for a longer trip, which would have been useful.

Get a new switch ?
