Wiring Power Folding Mirror [JDM CL9 or JDM UC1]

Hey Guys,

So the aim of this thread is to create a step by step "how to" for power folding mirrors whether for the inspire or jdm accord (cl7)

your input would be greatly appreciated
i would really like a combined effort to try to figure the wiring out.

please do not put a link from another site, as some links die and sometimes you cant see the photos or diagrams because the person has deleted their image hosting account or whatever the case may be.

Left Side Mirror Wires [JDM Passenger] [US Driver Side]

8 Wires:
  • Black Wire - Mirror Open/Extend
  • White Wire - Mirror Close/Retract
^ These two wires control the power folding feature, reverse polarity needed to open/close them
  • Pink Wire - Positive For Turn Signal
  • Purple Wire - Negative/Ground For Turn Signal
^ These two wires are pretty straight forward, ground the purple wire, and connect the pink to the positive wire of your turn signal.

  • Yellow w/ Black Stripe
  • Yellow w/ Red Stripe
  • Yellow w/ White Stripe
^ These three wires control the direction of the mirror glass, using different combinations of the wires.
  • Black w/ White Stripe
^ Really not sure what this wire does (heated feature maybe?)

  • Yellow w/ White Stripe to Blue w/ White Stripe
  • Yellow w/ Red Stripe to Blue w/ Black Stripe
  • Yelow w/ Black Stripe to Green w/ White Stripe

Right Side Mirror Wires [JDM Driver] [US Passenger]

my thing is how to i connect the power folding feature, whether to control it by the switch or unlock/lock function, or close when put into park, unfold when put in drive.

how would i reverse polarity and wire that part up?

I have the same mirrors I just haven't gotten around to install them. You need a relay. There are several diagrams online, this one works for the honda relay that can be found on ebay for ~$25.

Thanks Rob for starting this much needed thread for us powerfold mirror owners. I also have been on a quest to wire these up and with little time to work on these I have had no luck.

@ e713 - Thanks for your input I needed something like that diagram to go off of but i have a few questions. at the switch there are a few wires that are'nt matching up with the colors on the rear of my main switch from the inspires. blue/yellow , blue/green , and yellow/green wire are different at the rear of my switch.

I think the TSX Diagram will be helpful. I found good info on tsx forums, here are few of the notes/diagrams.

The power-folding mirror switch from the EP3 Civic Type R does not require a relay. I found this as a happy accident when I was looking for a switch to fit my CB7 that was illuminated. This switch does the 7th generation Accord no good, but I was wondering if anyone verified that the newer harware still required a separate relay. If you're just going off the information from DIY guides from older Civics and Integras then it may be worth looking into.

I'll be getting my Inspire mirrors installed/wired in next Sunday by a friend. I'll post the method he figured out then.

Am thinking of fold when alarm armed. unfold when disarmed. So it won't simply fold and unfold.

Hey rob I know u wired using the relay. I was wondering did u use the window switch that came with your mirrors? I have the same window switch u have and want to know how to make it fit in oem panel or if I need the tsx door switch panel with tsx switch for direct fit. Anyone wire inspire mirrors with the door switch I have pictured? If so how did u make it fit?

Well so far no dice. No one I contacted used the oem inspire power fold switch. Im thinking of going to use the tsx heated mirror switch for a clean look.

I have the Inspire mirror switch too. Sorry to hear that it's not a direct fit into our panels. Does anyone think theirs a way?

I also have to ask if anyone knows where I can get some mating electrical connectors to make a harness with. For example, I looking for the male 13 pin connector to mate with the female off of the mirrors harness. Thanks for the help.

I believe the EX-L comes with the heated mirror switch, mine did. I have ran the wires for the mirrors, I just need to drill the holes. Anybody encounter any issue with the mounting of the cl7 euro-r mirrors? I'm just going to do a template of the position of the screws and proceed.
