car didnt start.

so im seeing if anyone has any input for me. this is what happened:

I woke up in the morning, went to start my car, sounds like the starter started, then died down to a stop. It wasn't even able to start the car, tried to start again and it doesnt even make a sound. I had a busy day that day and didnt have time to look at it except for the obvious like making sure that it had gas and the battery terminals were secure. The next day my car starts, kinda roughly but it starts, i turn on the headlights and they look like they're flickering making me think theres something wrong with my battery. I then noticed some corrosion on the bolt on the starter. i shot some wd40 on it and it seems to have done the job for now. however the car has a hard time starting now. Im worried its either the starter or my battery. I even checked out for the clutch switch but it was still there, and im thinking it might also be my key, which is broken, causing the car to be immobilized.
just wondering if anyone has gone through something like this?

Most autopart stores (I know Autozone does it) should be able to test both the battery and the starter. I don't think you even need to take the car there, just the parts.
