You know what really grinds my gears?

Me Third gear, specifically. I've had intermittent problems smoothly getting into third gear since I bought my 03 6-6 8 years ago. It has resulted in me occasionally grinding third. I just stumbled upon a TSB for this exact issue, but apparently my VIN isn't listed as one of the problem cars. Anyone else have this same problem? Any way to get in on that free repair when you're VIN isn't on the list?

Contact Honda of America and open up a case. They will tell you to have a dealer check it out.

just because your VIN does not fall within the list, does not mean your car does not have the same issue. Car makers "expand" recalls and TSB's all the time. This could be the case for your situation.

OK cool. If it's determined that I don't qualify for a repair, do they expect me to pay for them to look at it?

Discuss that issue with the dealer BEFORE you have them do anything to it. Some will and some will not charge you a "diagnostic" fee if it is determined your car does not qualify for the TSB..

Sycro Sets. I had mine replaced twice under warranty, the last time with only 500miles left on it (99,500). Ended having the slave replaced, and all sycro sets from 1st-4th. I think I just got really lucky though.

Some people have solved their 3rd gear issue by changing to GM (now AC Delco) Synchromesh Fiction Modified trans fluid. It worked for me! If you're no longer under warranty the dealer is highly unlikely to do anything for you. The TSB isn't a recall.

I've had both...amsoil is usually tops in my book but the acdelco gmsmfm is better IMO...amsoil was notchy from 1-2 in cold temps. The gmsmfm is better...not perfect, but better
