I wouldn't put 225's on that width rim, but a 2% decrease is OK
Many people run 225/40 R18 which is 2% small if you have the 4 cylinder stock

225 width will be wide for the stock wheels, but its doable, will be more comfortable but not as good handling

Thank for your replay the wheel is 7.5 inch wide, for reference 2011 accord sedan comes with 225 tires and the stock wheel is 7.5 inch too.

225/45-17 on a 17x7in wide rims is fine, just look on tirerack. I had them on my car, helped a bit. Bumps sucked though lol

You will be fine with those tires. I ran 225/45s on my stock 6.5" wheels and probably will do it again come spring

I would go with 235/45-17 which only results in a -.05% difference. The tire charts I've seen indicate that a 235 is ok on a 7.5 rim and you get the advantage of getting a little more rubber on the road and very little speedometer error. I've got 235/45-17's on my TL wheels which are a little wider at 8" and they seem fine to me.

Don't do it if you live in NY boroughs lol. The ride is harsher on bumps and potholes. Had 225/45/17 on Civic Si rims 7" wide and felt it. 225/50/17 feels much better
