215/40r16

Is this tire to small for a 7th gen V6 coupe? I picked up a set of RSX base model wheels. 16x6.5 These wheels. I was thinking of a set of Hankook Ventus HR II.. Would these tires be too small? The car is lowered on HFP suspension so i know the smaller tire(height) will probably make it even lower.

Current tires are
215/50R17 ~ 25.46" diameter

compared to
215/40R16 ~ 22.77" diameter

A 2.69" smaller diameter tire.

I will look for a 215/55 or 215/50 instead.

225/55/16 is supposed to be the same height as a 205/60/16. But look around, sizes aren't standard. You may find a 215/55 that's the same height. 205/55 works but looks a little undersized. But it gives you a slight gearing advantage. If your car is lowered, you should be fine with a 205/55.

Are you gonna ride around on these wheels all the time? Or will they just be your track setup? You could go for some 215/50/16s, or 225/45/16s. You will have a bit of a gearing advantage over stock, yet still some sidewall flex for launching. 215/40s is pushing it though. Think about it; you would be 2.69" lower than you are currently lol.

With the 215/40s you would have an effective FD of 3.67 compared to ~3.29 stock lol.
