wheels and tire dollars

I'm iterested in upgrading my 17" to 18'. Something like 225/45/18x7.5. So far just the tire pricee quotes i've gotten have been a bigg difference. The same size tire can fluctuate by $200 or so
Dealer say this and dealer say that it,s hard to know what is the right tire for me as the last set of rims/tires i bought was 8 years ago and i need some advice.
how much should I spend for a good 18" wheel(lightweight) and tire. Whats a decent tire without spending $450 a tire.

If you don't mind me asking how much have you guys spent on your pack of 18" wheel/tire.
Thanks for any info. ohh also I belevie I should get an offset of 45, it's going to be lowered 1.4" as well.

I got 18x8's w/ 225/40/18 tires for about $1600 - $1700 total. (Probably would have been cheaper if I got the rims/tires as a package, but I had to buy them separate). If I remember correctly, the rims weigh 19 or 20 lbs. each. Not bad for 18's.

But make sure you get the right offset. Mine are a 38 offset, and now I want to lower my car more, but can't because it'll rub bad. Anyone want to trade?

btw, the rims are Buddy Club P1 Racing II's and the tires are Dunlop FM901 sports.

I couldn't tell you exactly. I do know that with a 38 offset, the edge of my tire is about an eighth of an inch farther out than the edge of my fenders. So if I lower it anymore, the fenders will be sitting right ON the tires. You can see why that would be a bad thing.

I paid $1800 for my 18" Racing Hart Evo C2s wrapped in 225/40/18 Yokohama AVS ES100s, that included mounting/balancing and shipped to my door from Cali....

Paid $800 for USED 18'' RH Evo C2 with 235/40/18 Pirelli PZeros about 40% tread left. There are minor scratches and one small curb but you cannot notice any of them 2 feets+ away.
