225/55/16 on stock 16" wheels?

Are the stock 16" wheels large enough for a tire size of 225/55/16?

that sounds kinda big. but they can do some crazy things with tires... if you're gonna shell out the money for some good new tires, though, why not spring fr some bigger/better wheels? just IMO. but good luck!

has anyone done this? Presonally I love the mags on my 05 accord, if I'd change them it'd be for something similar, so not really worth it. Plus I need the extra rubber where I live. Roads are really bad.

I plan on putting 225/55-16's on my stock 5-spokes in another month or so.

Wondering if it'll hinder handeling peformence because the tire would be larger then the rim.

i think it'll tend to roll more under more spirited turning conditions. I've been on the side of my 205/60-16s
but that was only under pretty intense cornering, probably more than i should have. but i love my new swaybar. the car is completely nuetral. some eventually im gonna have to get some wider shorter tires.

My wife's '04 LX sedan has 16" wheels from an '04 EX-V6 with 225/55/16 Kuhmo ASX W-rated tires. No handling problems what-so-ever. The stiffer sidewalls (W) improve turn-in response a good deal.

My AV6 just got some nice fat 225/55R/16 BFG TAs.

The same size tires will work fine on your 7th gen.

I have RE750 225/55-16 on my EX rims for at least 10K now, great tires, nice turn in, better performance in every aspect, can't really roll the tires due to stiffer sidewall, but bad on gas mileage, average 22mpg now vs 25 mpg before.
Great upgarde in my opinion.

what do you all think of the Yokohoma avid h4s in a 225/55-16 tire. Im trying to go get new tires tomorrow. Also, do you think itll hurt if i put wider tires on front until i get money to get new tires for the back??

Dont get 2 different size tires. I dont know what effect it would have on suspension characteristics, but it would look goofy. If youre tryin to save cash, find the tires you want and buy em online, they're dirt cheap all over the place online.

Really.. The only place I know of is tirerack.com and there pretty much the same price I'd pay locally, after the shipping.

Got any links?

How wide are the stock 16 incers on a 04 AV6? 6.5 or 7 inch? I am thinking I want to go 225/55/16 on my wifes car, but if it is only a 6.5 inch rim I might stick with the 205/60ss.

This is an old post, so chime if those of you who have made the switch and now have some miles on the tires.

Thanks

the gas mileage my only concern also about getting these tires. I'm still debating between going stock size or the 225/55's for extra cornering (but guzzle more gas)...
