Offset for 20"

hey guys, my friend has a 7th gen and is planning on getting 20x8 wheels and was wondering what offset he should get, the wheels are custom so what would be the best offset for the wheel?

edit 8/5/07: hey guys what do you think of 20x8.5 with a 40 offset? and ill use 225/35/20 tires. suspension is tein ssp slammed.

Depends what you want really... I have 40 offset as well and it sits very flush... the problem is that Im dropped as well... when I had it to a one finger gap, it rubbed on my tires and it started peeling the tires a bit... so I raised it up to 2 1/2 fingers and now I dont have that problem, but its not as low... I still would go 40 cuz it looks the best ...

for that I would use a 225 tire. and to back it up I would look at sick6speeds (aka drews) accord:

he had 20x8.5 Maido GR5's with et44 (Im sure you know what car Im talking about)
he was running 225 tires and he was slammed to the floor with no rubbing issues.

a 20x8 et40 will sit at virtually the exact same location (2mm short) and the 225 tires will ensure no rubbing. that is if you run the exact same camber as drew.

or if you really want the 235 for wheel protection then run camber or tuck the wheel mag in about 3-4mm... which will void the flush look.

if ure gonna go tucked...be safe and get +45...that way u can run a 235/30/20 tire or so. +40 with 235 might be to cutting it close if dont roll the rear fenders.

235 tires would be best...if u go 225 u can go to a +40 offset...but i would opt to get the 235 to stay within stock ratio.

you can do 245-35-20 tires w/20x 8.5 wheels w/ an 45offset.
I have the same setup on my accord. here are some pics at

i dont think id be able to slam the right with those tires, i see if i drop it, it'll rub on the fender.

Drew was running rubber bands on his wheels (very stretched tires) so thats why he was able to clear his fenders no problem. Same thing that Roy (accord03) had to do with the Modenas he had.

I hope the wheels are quality wheels like Drews Maido GR5's or else you'll dent them in no time with the 225 tires.
