Why Tokico?

I just bought a set of Tein SS springs. I understand that they will wear out stock struts very quickly and it's best to replace them.

I've noticed that KYB is far cheaper than Tokico. They are not adjustable but that's not a huge priority to me. Why do so many people go with Koni's or Tokicos? Do you need to have a strut with adjustable dampening with lowering springs?

Thanks

Because some people like the idea of having an option of stiff or soft..

I understand that adjustable dampening is a plus. I just want to know if the KYBs will be able to cope with a drop or do I have to go with Koni's? There is a significant price difference and I'm on a budget.
