Tire size for HFP Silverstars?

Hi guys,

sorry to have to make a thread about this topic. I was just wondering what my options were for getting tires for my HFP Silverstars. They are 17x7. I am not lowered yet, but I don't want to throw anything off (ie. odometer).

Which one of these are my best bet?

215/50/17
225/50/17

Also, would a 45 sidewall not be suggested for this set of rims? Or could I do that and not notice a difference in the odometer?

I too wondered this, i wound up going with 225/45/17 and according to my gps, the car says the speed exactly at 45, and the speedo reads like 2-3 mph lower than that... But what the car THINKS the speed is is correct, but i have a 6th gen...

If i get new tires, they would be 225/40/17 and that would put the speedo off like 2-3% or something, not a biggie...

215/50/17 are skinnier tires and will not affect your speedo as much as 225/45/17.

compared to a 205/65/15 tire @ 50 MPH,
a 225/45/17 will show a 48.9 MPH
a 225/50/17 will show a 50.7 MPH

and a 215/50/17 will show a 49.94 MPH

here is a good site to look at: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...calibrate.html

225/50/17 is what you want. A 215/50/17 would look a little better though. A 225/45/17 would look best and would throw your speedo off ~1mph.

I have 225-45-17 on my stock 6spd rims, and I read 2-3mph more than what I'm going. Speedo reading 50, GPS says 47-48mph

That's some great info so far guys. So far I guess the 225 would look a little better since it's wider right?

Well either way, I think I might go for the 215's. Also, could you guys give me some insight on these brands?

Firenza, Nankang, Falken 512's

I won't be going to any track nor do I drive extremely aggressive. So I just need an all season tire for regular city driving.
